Romans 7:18-25

verse 19...  in my flesh. I can want to do what is right, but I am unable to do it.

My Beloved, I have just been lamenting a little earlier about the difficulty as well as the importance of mastering the desires of the flesh.  How well St. Paul explains it.  I desire with all my heart to do what is pleasing to God but the weakness of my flesh keeps me always in a state of combat with my desire to please You.  Often I fail miserably. Thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit that helps me.

Luke 12:54-59

Beloved, thank You for the wonderful Sacrament of Reconciliation - here You make available to me the grace and strength to begin anew and to overcome my weaknesses.  You  help me to weed them out one weakness at a time  Thank You for Your help in this lifelong struggle and in the end with Your help I will triumph.

Psalm 119:66, 68, 76-77, 93-94

66 Give me knowledge and good judgment for I trust in your commands.
76 Comfort me then with your unfailing love, as you promised your servant.
77 Let your mercy come to give me life, for your law is my delight.
94 Save me for I am yours, since I seek your statutes.
