Jesus Christ was rich,
but he became poor for your sake,
to make you rich out of his poverty. 2 COR 8:9
JUDGES 6:11-24 ©
My Soul's Beloved,
Oftentimes we can feel as Gideon did, abandoned by God, and yet that is never ever true. You never abandon those who are called by Your Name. We may not always accept that You are there in the midst of the storm, in the midst of our heartaches and tears, in the midst of our wretchedness, nevertheless, whether we believe it or not, whether we feel Your Presence or not, You are Emmanual, God with us always.
We might question as Gideon did, 'Forgive me, my lord, but if the Lord is with us, then why is it that all this is happening to us now? And where are all the wonders our ancestors tell us of when they say, “Did not the Lord bring us out of Egypt?” But now the Lord has deserted us; he has abandoned us to Midian.’' But we will receive Your reassuring response that You never left us.
To each of us is given a mission and like Gideon we might feel incapable of fulfilling it because we are too insignificant, however, You always equip those whom You appoint and send to do Your work. And to all our objections You will say as You did to Gideon, I will be with you and you shall crush Midian as though it were a single man.’
Thank You, Lord, we believe that You are always with us. Thank You for Your abiding Presence in the Holy Eucharist. Thank You for becoming food and drink for us to strengthen us on our journey from this life to the next.’
