Wednesday of the First Week of Advent

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

Behold, the Lord comes to save his people;
blessed are those prepared to meet him.

ISAIAH 25:6-10A
PSALM  23:1-6
MATTHEW 15:29-37

ISAIAH 25:6-10A

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

How blessed and privileged we are as Catholics to know You in Your fullness in as much as it is possible for creatures to know their God.

Long before You came into the world as the Son of Man, Isaiah prophesied that we would feast at the Eucharistic Banquet.

He prophesied that death would be vanquished forever,

He prophesied that God Himself will comfort us and there will be an end to the persecution of His people,

And finally, he prophesied that the day of the Lord will dawn when we will see the God who saved us. And we will rejoice and be glad for the Presence of God will remain with us.

PSALM  23:1-6

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

This beautiful psalm has always been able to calm my soul. It is filled with hope and promise. It assures me that I am not alone and that You are always walking beside me, watching over me, tending to my needs.

You correct and guide me because I belong to You. You desire that I spend eternity with You. I am anointed and the Sacraments provide all the grace and help I need every day. Through Your merits, I am kept safe from the wiles of the Enemy. I will never be disappointed because all my hopes rest in You, My Good Shepherd and my Friend.

MATTHEW 15:29-37

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

I never tire of reading this beautiful miracle of how You fed the multitude with just seven loaves and a few fish.

From this miracle, we come to understand that no one is denied a seat at Your table. It is up to us to respond to Your invitation. All will be fed. All will receive grace, healing, and nourishment. No one will be turned away for You have great tenderness and compassion for the weak, the sick, the sinner.

You want us to join You in alleviating the misery of our brothers and sisters and often we respond negatively just as the disciples did. We do not know You as well as we think we do and hence we do not have an expectant faith that is certain that You will provide what we lack.

You also remind us that even when we give the little we have You will ensure it is enough to perform a miracle. All who give and all who receive will be satisfied and there will always be enough left over, for with You, my Beloved, there is always an abundance.
