DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS
Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church
O happy Virgin, you gave birth to the Lord;
O blessed mother of the Church,
you warm our hearts with the Spirit of your Son Jesus Christ.
Genesis 3:9-15, 20, Psalm 87:1-2, 5-7, John 19:25-34
Genesis 3:9-15, 20
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
We were created for joy. We were created to live in Paradise and to walk with God in fellowship. To us God desired to give a life of fullness in His Presence. Sadly, Adam allowed himself to be persuaded by Eve to do the very thing that God had told them precisely not to do. He, being the head, should have been the one to not only refrain from eating the forbidden fruit but to stop her from doing so as well.
Sadly, to this day we allow what pleases the senses to overrule right judgment.
Thank You, Father, for beginning anew from the point of our rejection. A woman was the one who led us all astray from Paradise, a New Woman was to become the Mother of the New Man and so crush the head of Satan and lead all Your children who choose to believe in the One that the Father sent to lead us back to Paradise.
Psalm 87:1-2, 5-7
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
Thank You for Mary, Mother of the Church, conceived in Your Passion at the foot of the Cross.
This is the Church You founded. Mary gave You Your human body, she gives the Church a spiritual one for You have given her to us as our Mother.
Born of the flesh we are doomed to die but God loved us so much, He sent You into the world to enter into our humanity. You took on our sinful nature and in exchange gave us a share of Your divinity.
All who are born of water and the Holy Spirit have been thrust into the Fire of divine love and made a new creation.
Thank You for the Sacrament of Baptism that makes us sons and daughters of God.
John 19:25-34
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
It was always the plan of God to give us Your Mother as our own. She was chosen to become the Mother of all the living when she gave You life. You took her flesh. You were formed in her womb. At the foot of the Cross when the lance that pierced Your heart ran through her soul as well, she conceived all the children who would believe that the Father sent You to redeem a fallen world.
On the Cross, You cried out, "I thirst" not for water but for all the souls who would be lost despite the Ultimate Sacrifice in paying the debt that was ours and in return giving us the hope of new life in You.
You looked at Your beloved Mother who suffered mystically all that You suffered, You saw our own need of a Mother such as Yours, and so You gave her to us at the foot of the Cross. All who take her home will never be lost for she will lead us safely, and surely to everlasting life with You.
Thank You, Lord.
