DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS
Memorial of St. Barnabas, Apostle
Let your light shine before others
that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father. Mt 5:16
Acts 11:21B-26; 13:1-3, Psalm 98:1-6, Matthew 5:13-16
Acts 11:21B-26; 13:1-3
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
Holy Mother Church tends over all her children carefully for this is what You have commanded her. When the Church in Jerusalem heard of the large number of people who had come to believe in You, they sent the Apostle Barnabas to Antioch. As overseer, he was to ensure that all they believed was in according to revealed Truth. He encouraged the faithful and added to their numbers for "he was a good man, filled with the Holy Spirit and faith."
This ought to be true of all within the Church especially those with positions of responsibility and those in the hierarchy. It is so easy for those at the top to give scandal when they forget that they are appointed by You to watch over and feed Your sheep.
Whenever we are inspired to do any great work we are given the formula of how we ought to prepare. We are called to pray and fast and hands must be laid upon us before we are sent.
Psalm 98:1-6
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
We are called to be a people of joy. We ought to have a song constantly in our hearts for our entire being is full of praise and gratitude for all You have done for us.
You have saved us by the mighty of Your Name. Your Breath sustains the whole world. You raise up those who believe in Your Name and You cast down the enemy no matter how powerful and invincible they may seem for a while.
You are the King of kings and the Lord of lords and You are our Savior and Redeemer. We rejoice and are glad for we have a God who stoops lovingly over us and cares for us.
Matthew 5:13-16
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
You have called me to be a light in the world. I know that the flame of my love is a flickering flame but You desire that I burn, small as I am, with all the fervor of my soul.
Weak as I am Beloved, You have the power to use me for Your glory. May I always be ready to answer Your call and do all You ask even when I am certain that I will fail. For it is better to fail with You than to be successful without You.
