DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS
Wednesday of the Tenth Week of Ordinary Time
Teach me your paths, my God,
and guide me in your truth. Ps 25:4B, 5A
2 Corinthians 3:4-11, Psalm 99:4-9, Matthew 5:17-19
2 Corinthians 3:4-11
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
Thank You for all You have done for us, unworthy creatures. God Himself gave the Law to Moses so His people could become aware of sin. Anyone who sins can have no part of You for sin separates us from the love of God. No other people of any nation could boast of a God like the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. No other nation had a God like the God revealed to Abraham on Mt. Sinai.
The wages of sin is death and once we were made aware of sin we realized that we had no way of overcoming our natural, sinful tendencies. This is why St. Paul says, "the law brings death." Yet, it was a glorious law but it had no power to save.
We needed divine power to overcome sin because we could not do so on our own. Thank You for paying the price that made it possible to receive the Holy Spirit who not only convicts us of sin but enables us through grace, to strive to live holy lives. Thank You for Your Church, in her, the fullness of the Holy Spirit resides and through her ministers, we receive the Sacraments, the channels of grace that keep us united with You, the Father, and the Holy Spirit.
Psalm 99:4-9
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
God is holy and being holy He dwells in unapproachable light. Yet we can only be happy when we are in His Presence. When we have a right relationship with Him, and when we worship and adore Him.
True joy comes from knowing the Father and in knowing the One whom the Father sent. God has spoken to us from the beginning of creation but sin made us deaf to His Voice. Thank You for seeing our unhappy situation and for coming to rescue us. Thank You for sending us Your Holy Spirit who gives us life and animates us through the Sacraments giving us the strength we need to overcome our natural tendency to sin.
Thank You for calling us to holiness and for making it possible to grow in holiness through the Holy Spirit who lives in us.
All glory, honour, and praise be Yours now and forever.
Matthew 5:17-19
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
Those who preach the lie 'of once saved always saved' are false teachers. We are called to work out our salvation every day with fear and trembling. Nothing unclean can come into the Presence of God and we were doomed to be eternally separated from God; this is why You had to suffer and die for all humanity.
The law is necessary for it shows us our sins but that is all that the law can do. It has no power to do anything else. Thank You, Beloved, for becoming the Remedy for sin. Thank You for taking upon Yourself every sin that we have ever committed and for making each of us a new creation through Baptism. Thank You for opening the gates of heaven for us and for faith and grace that enables us to enter. May the witness of our lives cause many to enter the Kingdom so we can all enjoy eternal life with You.
