Shine like lights in the world,
as you hold on to the word of life. Phil 2:15D, 16A
2 Corinthians 4:7-15, Psalm 116:10-11, 15-18,
Matthew 5:27-32
2 Corinthians 4:7-15
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
When we take the Gospel seriously, when the Word is alive in us, then we will discover as St. Paul and all the great saints who have been raised on our altars, that life is truly more than food and drink. Life is every word that issues forth from God.
To be Catholic is to hold in our body the Treasure of treasures. God's own wonderful Gift to us, You, His Son, in the most august Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. And if that is not enough, You go even further by sending the Holy Spirit upon us who remains within us making our body His temple.
Every baptized Christian, and even more so a Catholic, has to live in the world in such a way that nothing the world does to us can cause us to stumble or fall for we carry within our perishable body the imperishable love and presence of God.
Death has no power over us. Fear has no place in our lives. Nothing should be able to extinguish the joy that we experience simply by being alive for we have a glorious future awaiting us in the Kingdom of God.
Truly, Beloved, if we each had faith the size of a mustard seed, and if we lived out that faith every moment of our lives, love would have already conquered the world and the Kingdom of God would be established on earth.
Psalm 116:10-11, 15-18
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
In the life of St. Paul we see how much hardship and suffering he had to endure because of his faith in You, yet nothing could deter him from preaching the Gospel boldly. He believed and because he believed he was prepared to carry out his mission faithfully so others too may believe and be saved.
He was tireless. He faced death on numerous occasions. He suffered many hardships and was in constant danger by the enemies of the faith who hated him but through it all, he was at peace for he kept his gaze on You.
He did all for You and for Your glory for he knew the joy knowing You and believing in the Gospel and he wanted the whole world to know You and experience that joy.
We have been given the same mission, Beloved, grant us the grace to shine Your light, small though we may be, in the world.
Matthew 5:27-32
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
We live in a world where truth in every form is being extinguished. The Devil, the father of lies seems to reign supreme in the world. Good sense is lost. Common sense is rare. The herd mentality is everywhere. People have been badly educated and poorly catechized and we see error being propagated as truth.
Your Word is Truth and You desire that we be sanctified in Truth. Your Word in today's Gospel is clear about adultery and divorce but false teachers have soft-pedalled on the hard truths and this is why the world is in utter chaos.
Truth alone can save us. Have mercy on us O Lord, and through the power of Your Holy Spirit renew the face of the earth.
