Joel 2:12-18

My Love, Beloved of my soul,

As another Season of Lent begins today with Ash Wednesday, grant me the grace with the help of Your Holy Spirit to turn my whole being, heart, mind, and spirit to You so that I may be transformed anew in Your image and likeness. Show me how to rend my heart in sorrow and make reparation for my sins. My offences are many. Reveal them to me in order that I may beg for mercy and pardon and be forgiven and healed.

Thank You.

Psalm 51:3-6, 12-14, 17

My Love, Beloved of my soul,

Together with the psalmist, I implore You to wash me clean of all my sins. Take away my guilt. Help me to approach the Sacrament of Reconciliation and make a good confession. In Your great goodness and mercy fill me with the Your Holy Spirit and remain in me. May I sin no more with Your help and Your grace and may my mouth never cease to sing Your praises.

2 Cor 5:20 -- 6:2

My Love, Beloved of my soul,

May my ears be open to hear Your Word and my heart be ready to receive it. Thank You for this beautiful Season of Lent when we contemplate the debt we owe You, a debt we can never repay. Thank You for taking upon Yourself the sin, shame, and punishment that was ours and in return giving us a share in Your life. Amen.

Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18

My Love, Beloved of my soul,

You have told us the attitude we should have when we give alms, pray, and fast. We are called to practice these virtues in secret so only heaven sees.

It is far, far better to receive our reward from the hands of a loving God and Father than to receive praise from human beings. May all I do be prompted by love for You always.
