Sirach 35:1-12

My Love, Beloved of my soul,

Grant me the gift of praise to You in all circumstances for You are God and it is from Your holy hands that I receive all that the Father has to offer. May I seek Your will in all things and do it joyfully. May I seek to be a blessing to everyone for You, my Beloved, have blessed me abundantly and far more than I deserve. May I give as You have given generously, selflessly, and without counting the cost. When I give may I do so gladly and joyfully. Thank You for the bountiful measure You use in giving me all that I need, not as I deserve, but according to the riches of Your glory and mercy.

Psalm 50:5-8, 14 & 23

My Love, Beloved of my soul,

Grant me the grace to fulfil my obligations to both God and neighbour, cheerfully and with a generous spirit. May I never cease to praise You in all things for You are worthy of all praise.

Matthew 10:28-31

My Love, Beloved of my soul,

Like Peter, it is human to speak to You as he did. He spoke frankly for they had given up everything that was dear and familiar to them to follow You.

Thank You for the assurance You gave him and to all who give up all to be Your disciples. Following You is difficult because we have to strip ourselves of all unnecessary baggage. Sometimes we cling to things we think we need or are afraid to give up, things that are dear and familiar to us. But You desire us to do so. Nothing material and no relationship is more desirable and more satisfying than to possess You wholly and be possessed by You and Your Holy Spirit.

Thank You for Your promise that we will receive from the magnanimous hand of God far more than we can conceivably imagine, in exchange for the little we give up for Your Sake and for the sake of the Gospel.

And may I never forget that it is the last who are first and the first last in the Kingdom of God.
