Hebrews 11:32-40
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
In the Old Testament we have many marvellous stories of great men and women who died for their faith. The writer of the Letter to the Hebrews describes all the terrible ways in which they were tortured and put to death, but they all died bravely holding on to the faith and prepared to die for it.
Yet, their faith, great as it was, was imperfect. In death, they had to wait for the true liberation that was to come. We are made perfect because of our faith in You. You are the 'Something Better' that God had foreseen for us. They, unlike us, had to wait for their eternal reward until You fulfilled the Eternal Covenant of Love that God had made with Abraham and to all the subsequent generations that followed.
Thank You Beloved for the free gift of faith we received through the wonderful plan of the Father. Thank You for my faith in You and my hope of eternal joy with You in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Psalm 31:20-24
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
Thank You for making Your Sacred Heart, my refuge and my shelter. Thank You for being my comfort in times of distress. Thank You for always permitting me to take shelter in the shadow of Your wings when life overwhelms me. Thank You for keeping me safe in Your love always. Thank You for permitting me to enter Your Presence anytime I desire in all the Adoration Chapels that are accessible to me. Thank You for always wiping away my tears and comforting me. Thank You for being Emmanuel for me always. Keep me faithful my Lord and my God, till the end.
Mark 5:1-20
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
The man whom You cured of the Legion of evil spirits that had possessed him wanted to follow You but You had a different mission for him. It is better for us to be open to Your will for our lives rather than doing what we desire, even if what we want is good. Your Way is always the better Way.
What You said to the man with the unclean spirit, You say to me as well,
"Go home to your family and announce to them
all that the Lord in his pity has done for you."
Then the man went off and began to proclaim in the Decapolis
what Jesus had done for him; and all were amazed.
Grant me the same faithfulness, my Lord. May I always seek to know and do Your will rather than my own and may I always proclaim everywhere how good and gracious You are and always have been. Amen.
