Incline my heart, O God, to your decrees;
And favor me with your law. Ps 119:36, 29B

Genesis 1:20 --- 2:4A, Psalm 8:4-9, Mark 7:1-13

Genesis 1:20 --- 2:4A

My Love, Beloved of my soul,

From the story of Creation, we see how generously, joyfully, and magnanimously God created the world and filled it with all that is beautiful and good. The waters teem with an abundance of life. The sky is filled with all kinds of winged birds. The earth He commands to bring forth and be filled with all kinds of living creatures, a vast array of fruit-bearing plants, and all kinds of foliage that are good for food. And finally, God created the crown of His Creation:

God created man in his image;
in the divine image he created him;
male and female he created them.

And gave them dominion of the whole earth and all that is in it. God always gives and He gives all gladly, joyously, and completely. He rejoices in the giving to His creatures whom He loves beyond our imagination to fathom.

And blessing them He said, "Be fertile and multiply."

God filled the oceans, the sky, and the earth with fish, birds, and animals but He gives man and woman share in His power to collaborate with Him and fill the earth with children also made in His image and likeness.

And when God finished creating He rested on the seventh day. And He desires that we too rest enter His rest and rest in Him.

Psalm 8:4-9

My Love, Beloved of my soul,

Truly Your Name is great above all the earth. All that is was created through the Eternal Word breathed forth by the Breath of God, the Holy Spirit.

The beauty of creation in an ever-changing canvas, with all its variety, grandeur, and even in its simplicity speaks to us of You. We look at creation and our hearts are moved as we contemplate the greatness and goodness of God in giving us a world of such beauty and such abundance.

Above all, we thank You for creating us. We were made for eternity but between earth and heaven, You desire that we be happy and have all we need to satisfy body, soul, and spirit. You thought of the smallest detail to ensure that we lack nothing.

Thank You Beloved for Your loving and watchful care of us. Grant that we may always hunger and thirst for You and be satisfied with nothing less than You always.

Mark 7:1-13

My Love, Beloved of my soul,

Some people instead of enjoying the present moment are looking to see what they can criticize. The Pharisees and Scribes came from Jerusalem to meet You because they had heard about You, instead of making the most of the blessed opportunity they reveal their real intent for coming. Their real motive was to reveal that You were not who the people claimed You to be, a prophet, the Messiah, a worker of miracles.

They came with a critical spirit and they gloated when they found something to criticise almost immediately. They pointed out to You that some of Your disciples did not wash their hands as demanded by the rituals. You responded by calling out their hypocrisy for they themselves were guilty of breaking the lawful traditions and replacing them with man-made ones.

Beloved, grant that we train the light of truth upon ourselves first and see how sinful we are before we point out the negligible failings of others.
