1 John 5:14-21, Psalm 149:1-6A, 9, John 3:22-30

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

The people who sit in darkness have seen a great light,
on those dwelling in a land overshadowed by death
light has arisen. Mt 4:16

1 John 5:14-21, Psalm 149:1-6A, 9, John 3:22-30

1 John 5:14-21

My Love, Beloved of my soul,

The words of St. John are so consoling. The beloved disciple who rested on You breast speaks to us with a conviction born of knowledge that came from knowing You intimately and through divine revelation.

Your Word assures us that anything we ask You in faith will be given to us. We are reminded to pray for those we love who are not in right relationship with You and You will save them as well. We are reminded that sin, especially grave sin separates us from God. But we who are born of fire and the Holy Spirit are under Your protection and the evil one has no power over us.

Keep us safe in Your love Beloved, and keep us always covered in Your most precious Blood. Thank You.

Psalm 149:1-6A, 9

My Love, Beloved of my soul,

You take delight in Your Body, the Church, we in turn ought to rejoice that we belong to You. Fill our hearts with praise so we will have a song on our lips always telling of all the wonders and marvels of Your saving love. Keep us joyful for You have won the victory for us over the Enemy. We have life in You that will well up to eternal life in the Kingdom.

Holy Spirit of God teach me how to praise my Lord constantly and never tire of telling everyone how good God is and how constant in His love and mercy.

John 3:22-30

My Love, Beloved of my soul,

In this world, everyone is busy trying to outdo the other. We are jealous and envious when others do better than us John the Baptist reveals how true humility works. When his disciples came him to complain that the One whom you baptized was Himself baptizing and that everyone was going to You, he said quite plainly,

"No one can receive anything except what has been given from heaven.
You yourselves can testify that I said that I am not the Christ,
but that I was sent before him.
The one who has the bride is the bridegroom;
the best man, who stands and listens for him,
rejoices greatly at the bridegroom's voice.
So this joy of mine has been made complete.
He must increase; I must decrease."

You are the Bridegroom who has the bride, Your Church. She has been given to You by the Father and we rejoice at the sound of Your Voice. Beloved, with the help of Your Holy Spirit, teach us how to decrease in order that You may increase in us. True love empties itself in the service of the beloved as You did on the Cross. Help us to empty ourselves in order that we may be filled with You and Your Spirit so we may always be pleasing to the Father. Amen.
