DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS
The Lord has sent me to bring glad tidings to the poor
and to proclaim liberty to captives. Lk 4:18
1 John 4:19---5:4, Psalm 72:1-2, 14-15, 17,
Luke 4:14-22
1 John 4:19---5:4
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
St. John the evangelist tells us very clearly that if we are indifferent to our brothers and sisters then we do not love God. If there is no love in me for those around me than I cannot claim to love You and if I do, then I am a liar.
This the truth. Love of God comes before love of neighbour and the love of God is made visible when I love my neighbour.
It is the Father's will that we believe that You are His Son. In this is eternal life. Anyone who rejects You rejects the Father as well. But all who believe in You will obey Your commandments which are summed up in the great commandment You gave us - love God before and above all else with our whole being and our neighbour as ourselves. True love is not a burden - it is a joy to obey and serve the God of love. Faith as small as a mustard seed can work miracles.
Beloved, increase my faith. Help my unbelief. Amen.
Psalm 72:1-2, 14-15, 17
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
You are the great King sent to rule the world, the universe, and the heavens. All that lives worships You and gives God the glory for all You have done for us.
To You, the Father has been given all authority and rule. You command and all obey. You judge and all must abide by Your judgment for You are the just judge.
You will never forget the poor, the needy, those who come to You in poverty of spirit, for we have no one in heaven or on earth whom we can approach but You and You will never turn us away without giving us all that we need.
Thank You, Father, for sending us Your Son. Thank You, Beloved, for redeeming Me and for revealing the Face of the Father of mercy to me. Thank You, Holy Spirit for living in me and for the grace that You pour into my soul each day.
Thank You, for the hope of eternal happiness in heaven.
Luke 4:14-22
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
Filled with the Holy Spirit You performed mighty works of healing and You preached and taught with authority. The same power of the Spirit has been given in full measure to all who are grafted to You.
When You returned to Nazareth and entered the Synagogue, You were handed the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. The passage You were about to read was to be fulfilled in the hearing of all those present.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.
I believe Lord that You came to set us free from all kinds of captivity, slavery, and bondage. You came to open our eyes to the Light. To open our ears to the Good News that saves. To heal us in mind, body, and spirit so we can all rise up and go out into the world and announce that God has set us free to love, worship, honour and serve Him.
