DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS
The Lord has sent me to bring glad tidings to the poor
and to proclaim liberty to captives. Lk 4:18
1 John 4:7-10, Psalm 72:1-4, 7-8, Mark 6:34-44
1 John 4:7-10
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
God created us in order that we may know how much He loves us. The Father's love is made visible and tangible in You, His Son, whom He sent into the world in order to save a lost humanity. Love conquers all. Love bears all. Love is triumphant and victorious over all always. God is love and when we love we are like Him, we are children of the Father whose name is Love, whose nature is Love, whose Being is Love.
The Father sent You into the world in order that we may know what Love looks like, You gave Love a Face, Your Face. So that we see You believe and in believing we live.
Thank You, Beloved, for making expiation for my sins and the sins of the whole world.
Psalm 72:1-4, 7-8
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
It is the Father's will that all people in every nation adore You for You are the only way by which all the world may be saved. The Good News of our salvation is that God sent You into the world to redeem us from sin and death by 'paying a debt that You did not owe and which we could not pay.' We are truly Your debtors Beloved. We are like the servant in the parable who owed the King 10,000 pieces and whose debt the King forgave. May we, unlike that wicked servant, forgive those who have hurt, wounded, and sinned against us for we have been forgiven much.
You have brought peace into the world, and this peace is within our grasp if only we are people of goodwill.
We long for the day Beloved when the whole world will recognize You as the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the only Son of the Father and offer You all praise, honour, worship, to the glory of God our Father forever and ever.
Mark 6:34-44
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
This miracle of the 5 loaves and 2 fish are a reminder to us that when we approach the Eucharist we receive food that satisfies and nourishes our soul.
You care for our physical needs we know this because Mark, the writer of this miracle tells us that Your Heart was moved with pity when You saw the crowds who had followed You and stayed with You until the end of the day were hungry
The disciples wanted to dismiss the crowd so they could go and find food for themselves but not You. Your response was, "Give them some food yourselves." Their immediate response was, "Are we to buy two hundred days wages worth of food and give it to them to eat?" All they saw was the problem. They had lost sight of the One who was present in their midst. You, however, insisted that they go and see how many loaves they had and they came back to You saying, "Five loaves and two fish." That was enough for You to perform a miracle and You fed five thousand people that day and not only were the people satisfied the leftover fragments filled twelve wicker baskets full.
The numbers are significant for they are a reminder that the Eucharist always satisfies, and that the twelve (God's anointed in the priesthood) will never run out of the Bread of Life until You come again, to receive us and seat us at the eternal Banquet in the Kingdom of Heaven.
