DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS
A holy day has dawned upon us.
Come, you nations, and adore the Lord.
Today a great light has come upon the earth.
1 John 3:11-21, Psalm, 100:1-5, John 1:43-51
1 John 3:11-21
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
A child of God loves because His Father is love. This is why the Father sent You into the world to show us the Face of the Father who is love and to show us how we too can love as He does.
Perfect love lays down its life for the other. It is not selfish, nor is it boastful. It is gentle, kind, loving, patient, and merciful. It is tender and compassionate. It is not irritable, does not complain, but is silent even under trials.
Upon every life is laid a cross never heavier than we can bear, and we are invited to pick it up daily and follow You.
Thank You for grace sufficient for the day to live each day according to Your will.
Psalm, 100:1-5
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
The psalmist reminds us that we ought to live joyfully because You created us and we have a glorious destiny.
Our hearts are to be filled with praise and that praise must spill out of our lips with songs of thanksgiving, praise, and worship.
We have been blessed, we have been saved, we have been redeemed, we have been made sons and daughters of God because You, my Beloved, have made us so by grafting us to Yourself in Baptism.
All creation give You praise without ceasing may I join my whole being with creation and praise You with my life for as long as I live and may I continue to sing Your praises and worship You forever in eternity.
Thank You, Beloved, for counting me as one of the sheep of Your flock.
John 1:43-51
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
All the baptised receive the invitation to follow You. Many do and to varying degrees. Some are more generous than others leaving everything familiar, comfortable, safe, behind and putting all their trust in You they follow You. Others, like me, are reluctant to do so. You do not condemn us but You teach us daily that in following You wholeheartedly all the days of our lives we fulfil our true destiny.
We see in today's Gospel how the first two disciples brought two more and they, in turn, invited others. Philip told his friend Nathanael about finding the Messiah but he was not convinced because he was prejudiced. It is so with us too. We have pre-conceived ideas and we fail to recognize the truth because of them. This is why You desire us to be child-like in our faith only then can we enter the Kingdom of God.
Philip uses the same words that You used when the James and John followed You, "Come and see." This is an invitation to us as well. We too are invited to see for ourselves what a joy and privilege it is to follow You and to be Your disciple.
You remind us that we ought to believe, not because of the wonderful blessing You shower upon us and the daily miracles we experience in our lives, but because You are the Son of God, the Messiah, You are Emmanuel, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. The Savior who has made us members of the household of God and co-heirs to the Kingdom.
"Amen, amen, I say to you, you will see the sky opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."
