DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS
Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe
Blessed are you, holy Virgin Mary, deserving of all praise;
from you rose the sun of justice, Christ our God.
Zechariah 2:14-17, Judith 13:18-19, Luke 1:26-38
Zechariah 2:14-17
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
Daughter of Zion refers not only to Your holy Mother, Mary, but the Church as well.
Of Your Mother, the prophets of old have proclaimed, that through her, the seed of our redemption would be conceived and a shoot of Jesse from the house of David would appear and break forth as the dawn. All the faithful will climb the Mountain of the Lord and there offer Him worship and praise fitting to our God.
All the baptized are grafted into Your Body, Beloved, and if we are Your brothers and sisters then Your Mother is ours as well and Your Father ours too. You gave them both to us so our joy may be complete. We stand before Your holy Mother in reverence and awe for from the dwelling place of her womb which You sanctified, You came forth from this new Arc of the Covenant to redeem and save the world.
Judith 13:18-19
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
All the women who were noble, good, pure, holy, beautiful and highly praised in the Old Testament were only a shadow compared to the Woman clothed with the Son. No song of praise extolling the virtues of our Blessed Mother can be too extravagant nor can they exhaust the wonderful ways in which the Triune God has blessed her and exalted her above all creatures.
The more we sing the praises of Mary, the Mother of our God, the more honour and glory we give to the One who created this glorious masterpiece. Truly Beloved, she is worthy of our praise, love, and reverence, she is a model whom we can all imitate. She will lead all her children in safety to the Heart of her Beloved Son.
Mary prophesied that from henceforth all generations will call her blessed. She is truly the highest honour of our race and the first among all creatures. God has done marvels through her and her praise will be sung by men, women, and angels forever.
Luke 1:39-47
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
Where Mary is there You are and if I stay close to Your Blessed Mother I will stay close to You. After the Annunciation, Mary travelled to visit Elizabeth having heard from the Angel Gabriel that she, in her old age had conceived and was to bear a child. This child was to prepare the way for her own Son, whom she was to name Jesus.
The child in Elizabeth's womb, upon hearing Mary's greeting, leapt with the joy of the Holy Spirit and she cried out saying,
"Most blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb.
And how does this happen to me,
that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
Blessed are you who believed
that what was spoken to you by the Lord
would be fulfilled."
And Mary said,
"My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
my spirit rejoices in God my savior."
Mary was aware of the awesome privilege bestowed on her by God in choosing her to become the Mother of His Son. She gave glory and praise where it was due. She understood that it was all God's doing but God required her consent. She had to say, 'Yes' before the divine work of our salvation and hers could begin.
Thank you Mary for your, yes to the Father. Pray for us sinners that our response to all that God desires of us be a generous and wholehearted yes just as yours was. Amen.
