Isaiah 40:1-11, Psalm 96:1-3, 10-13, Matthew 18:12-14

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

The day of the Lord is near:
Behold, he comes to save us.

Isaiah 40:1-11, Psalm 96:1-3, 10-13, Matthew 18:12-14

Isaiah 40:1-11

My Love, Beloved of my soul,

Thank You for the beautiful words of comfort and encouragement in today's reading from the prophet Isaiah for Your Church and for me personally. Thank You that Your Word is eternal and stands forever. Time will cease, but Your Word is Spirit and Life, and as long as Your Word abides in me I will abide in You. Thank You for Your assurance that my guilt is expiated by Your mercy. You have redeemed me and forgiven my sins.

As for me Beloved, grant me the grace to walk in the path that You have chosen for me. Grant me the grace to surrender my will and to embrace Yours for me wholeheartedly without reserve. You assure me that You will level the paths before me, You will make the way easy for me and You Yourself will lead me along.

Thank You that You have grafted me into Your Body and that I am a member of the Church You founded. Thank You for the privilege of climbing the mountain of the Lord and there offering our God a sacrifice of praise, the only Sacrifice of Calvary that is pleasing and acceptable to Him. This is Good News indeed that You are our God and that our God is Emmanuel. Thank You that You are our Good Shepherd and all Your sheep even the least of them will be lost or forgotten.

Psalm 96:1-3, 10-13

My Love, Beloved of my soul,

You have truly been great and You have blessed us with every grace in the heavenly places. I will sing of Your goodness, Your kindness, You mercy, Your compassion, and above all of Your love and faithfulness.

To You, I offer all glory, worship, adoration, and love for You are worthy. Let me never fail to tell everyone how good, kind, faithful, and gracious You are and always have been.

Beloved, You came into the world 2000 years ago and You brought with You love, joy, peace, and hope. We rejoice that You came to save, redeem, and ransom Your people and we look forward with joyful expectation at Your coming again in glory and majesty to claim the world and all in it for God our heavenly Father.

Matthew 18:12-14

My Love, Beloved of my soul,

Only a God of Love would believe that it made perfect sense to leave ninety-nine sheep behind to go in search of the one sheep that strayed from the fold. The shepherd did not send someone else to look for the stray while staying with the rest to ensure that they remained safe.  You pose this question to the disciples as if it were absolutely reasonable for them to act in like manner.

This is how God acts and this is how God expects the Church to act. God loves, seeks, and saves the lost. This is why He sent You, His only Son to save us. God goes in search of the stray and on finding the lost sinner leads him back to the fold rejoicing all the while that he is found.

Thank You, Beloved, for revealing to us God's compassionate and merciful love for sinners. Help me not to be judgmental of those who are weak rather let me imitate You in tenderness, compassion, and mercy. As You have dealt with me so may I deal with others.
