DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS
Behold, the Lord comes to save his people;
blessed are those prepared to meet him.
Isaiah 25:6-10A, Psalm 23:1-6, Matthew 15:29-37
Isaiah 25:6-10A
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
My Lord and my God, You dwell in fullness in the Church You established. Here, on Mt. Zion, You provide for Your people a seat at the banquet table and feed us on the choicest food and drink, Your precious Body and Blood. The veil of darkness is removed from our eyes and we behold You, the image of the unseen God is made visible to us. You have destroyed death forever and You have established peace in the hearts of all who believe in You. You have wiped away the tears from our eyes and You have bestowed upon us the joy of salvation. We rejoice Beloved because we belong to You.
Psalm 23:1-6
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
This is Your assurance to those who have been baptized and grafted into Your Body - we shall live in You O Lord my God all the days of my life.
You are my Shepherd, I am the sheep of Your flock. You lead me to green pasture, You give me rest. You lead me to waters that provide refreshment for my soul. You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and You guide me on the paths of life because You desire that I remain with You always.
In this life Beloved You invite us to pick up our cross daily and follow You. As I walk the narrow way that sometimes gets dark and I feel alone I will not be afraid for no evil can touch those You have claimed for Yourself. You walk beside me and I walk without fear because I know You are here with me.
You invite me to the Eucharistic feast and You give me a place at the table so I can eat Your Body and drink Your Blood and receive strength for the journey to the Kingdom of God. You have anointed me and consecrated me in the Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation and I am invited to be holy and perfect just as our heavenly Father is holy and perfect.
Thank You, Beloved, that only goodness and kindness will follow me all the days and years that are granted to me as I enter the sunset of my life. Thank You for the confidence You have given me that I will dwell in the Father's house eternally.
Thank You, Beloved, for the glorious destiny that awaits all who believe.
Matthew 15:29-37
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
I know that every time I run to You, You pick me up, You console me, You wipe away my tears, You encourage me to go on in faith and hope, and You assure me that You will never leave me, You will never forsake me because I am Yours.
Today, the Gospel of Matthew recalls how great crowds followed You in need of all kinds of healing spiritual, physical, and mental and You healed them all. They in turn rejoiced and glorified God. May I never cease to glorify You as You minister to me and to those I love, those I bring to You in prayer day after day, and You touch and make whole in every way.
My Beloved, You are not only concerned about our spiritual and mental ills but also of our physical requirements. You showed tender compassion for the crowds who were remained with You for three days. They were hungry for bread and Your heart was moved with pity. The disciples wanted to send them away for they had no resources of their own to feed the crowd. You were afraid they would faint on the way if they were not given food to sustain them for the journey home.
The practical response of the disciples was this, "Where could we ever get enough bread in this deserted place to satisfy such a crowd?" They saw numbers, You saw the faces of the people in the crowd and You said, "How many loaves do you have?" We always have something no matter how meager it might be. We all have something to give no matter how little it may seem. We have ourselves, our will, our desire, if we offer these to You, You will take it, bless it, multiply it, and You will help us do Your work in the world. At the end of our life, we will be surprised to see how much You have done with the little that we offered.
May I never send anyone away Beloved, I can always offer a smile, a cheerful word, a word of encouragement, sympathy, or just silence and empathy. Grant me the grace to be sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit and permit Him to inspire me to give out of my poverty in order that You may increase and multiply them according to Your riches and mercy. Amen.
