May the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ
enlighten the eyes of our hearts,
that we may know what is the hope

that belongs to his call. Eph 1:17-18

2 Peter 3:12-15A, 17-18

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

How can we hasten the coming of the day of God? Through living a life of righteousness, a life pleasing in the sight of God. Because You are a God of mercy, slow to anger and rich in compassion, tenderness, and compassion, You have stayed Your hand that would bring just and instant punishment to our sinful, hedonistic world.

You make available to every soul who is aligned to Your will rich channels of grace that make it possible to live a life of holiness and goodness. It is You who put the desire into our hearts to strive to model our lives on Yours and on Your Mother and all the saints who have gone before us.

However Beloved, the Day of the Lord will come and Your judgment will be swift and just. You will separate the sheep from the goats. There will be a day of reckoning. But for as long as today lasts we can count on Your mercy. May we seek the things that give life and partake in the Sacraments that channel grace into our soul making it possible to live lives that are pleasing to God our Father, to You and to the Holy Spirit. Keep me faithful to the end Beloved.

Psalm 90:2, 3-4, 10 & 16

In every age, O Lord, you have been our refuge.

Before the mountains were begotten
and the earth and the world were brought forth,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

You turn man back to dust,
saying, "Return, O children of men."
For a thousand years in your sight
are as yesterday, now that it is past,
or as a watch of the night.

Seventy is the sum of our years,
or eighty, if we are strong,
And most of them are fruitless toil,
for they pass quickly and we drift away.

Fill us at daybreak with your kindness,
that we may shout for joy and gladness all our days.
Let your work be seen by your servants
and your glory by their children.

Mark 12:13-17

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

These Pharisees and Herodians who were sent to trap You were chosen for their slyness and their wiliness. Those who sent them were confident that because they were crafty they could perhaps put You on the backfoot. They have absolutely no clue that they were dealing with the Son of God and did not stand a snowball's chance in hell of getting the better of You.

You knew them and their intentions even as You knew Nathaniel long before he approached You. You knew the question that they were going to pose to You. In their arrogance, they assumed that Your answer to their question would put You at a decided disadvantage. How wrong You would prove them to be.

Like all slimy toads, they begin with flattery,

"Teacher, we know that you are a truthful man
and that you are not concerned with anyone's opinion.
You do not regard a person's status
but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth.
Is it lawful to pay the census tax to Caesar or not?
Should we pay or should we not pay?"

You who are God and know the secret thoughts of all said,

"Why are you testing me?
Bring me a denarius to look at."

They complied little realizing that You would soon crush them with their own answer to the question that You, in turn, posed to them. "Whose image and inscription is this?"

They said, "Caesar's."

Then was the moment of sweet, divine, victory. They were hoist with their own petard', "Repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God."

Of course, they were utterly amazed at Your response. They were speechless. Would be nice to know what they reported back to their peers.
