I am the living bread that came down from heaven, says the Lord;
whoever eats this bread will live forever. Jn 6:51

THE SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST

Exodus 24-3-8, Psalm 116:12-13, 15-18,
Hebrews 9:11-15, Mark 14:12-16, 22-26

Exodus 24-3-8

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

The people of Israel upon hearing the words of the Lord relayed to them by Moses vowed to obey all that God commanded.

We are the new people of God, You are the Eternal Word of the Father who came down from heaven and have spoken to us. You are the Word made flesh, the Incarnate Word of God, spoken by the Father and we, the people of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, hear Your Voice and pledge to obey Your command.

The First Passover Meal was a prequel to the One Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, there is no other that pleases the Father. After Moses read the 10 Commandments to the people he prepared an altar for the sacrifice of young bulls as a peace offering to the Lord. The blood was sprinkled on the people as a sign of the covenant that God made with the chosen people of Israel.

This imperfect sacrifice is now superseded by Your Sacrifice of Calvary. This Sacrifice, instituted at the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday, was offered once for all, on the Altar of the Cross as a Bloody Sacrifice when the Lamb of God was slain. You have now become our food and drink. It is at the celebration of each Holy Mass that the Prince of Peace takes away our sins, strengthens us as we eat His Flesh, and satiates our thirst as we drink His Blood. We eat and drink of the flesh and blood of the Son of Man and live.

Psalm 116:12-13, 15-18

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

The Father desires that we who are grafted into Your Body, Your Church, come together every Sunday, the Day of the Lord, and offer to Him the only Sacrifice that is pleasing to Him. The fragrance of this Sacrifice reaches the highest heavens and grace overflows from the Throne of Mercy to the new people of God in the New Jerusalem.

God our Father desires it and we, His children, obey His will. It is in the celebration of the Most Holy Eucharist we acknowledge what God has done for us because He loves us.

We who are grafted into Your Body and are fed on the Bread of Angels have been set free from the bonds of slavery to sin and have the hope of eternal life with You when our earthly one comes to an end.

Once a week, Your people assemble to offer to the Father a Sacrifice of Thanksgiving and Praise in accordance with His Command and our pledge to obey. In turn, we receive life, forgiveness of sin, peace, and grace to live holy lives.

Hebrews 9:11-15

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

You are the eternal High Priest, You came into the world to offer Yourself as a Living Sacrifice for the forgiveness sin and so we could receive life for our souls. There is no other Sacrifice that can do for us what the one, holy, and perfect Sacrifice accomplished on the Cross on Calvary.

Your Blood O Lord has the power to wash away all sin bringing redemption to all sinners who believe, are contrite, repent, and resolve to sin no more with Your help. We receive new life through You and are promised a share of Your inheritance as Your adopted brothers and sisters and as children of God, who is Your Father and our Father.

Mark 14:12-16, 22-26

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

Our celebration of Holy Mass follows the pattern You set at the Last Supper.  The priest in persona Christi says the words of institution over the bread and the wine and they become Your Body and Your Blood. We eat the Flesh and we drink the Blood and we are made one in You and one with each other - we are truly the Body of Christ when we receive You in the Holy Eucharist.

Singing psalms You went out with the disciples to offer to the Father the Sacrifice of the Lamb that would atone for the sins of all Adams children and open once more the gates of paradise for all who believe. Thank You, Beloved.

While they were eating,
he took bread, said the blessing,
broke it, gave it to them, and said,
"Take it; this is my body."
Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them,
and they all drank from it.
He said to them,
"This is my blood of the covenant,
which will be shed for many.
Amen, I say to you,
I shall not drink again the fruit of the vine
until the day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God."
Then, after singing a hymn,
they went out to the Mount of Olives.
