DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS
I will not leave you orphans, says the Lord;
I will come back to you, and your hearts will rejoice. Jn 14:18
Acts 18:1-8, Psalm 98:1-4, John 16:16-20
Acts 18:1-8
Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,
When we look at the life of Paul who is the greatest evangelist of all time we can find in him a model we can follow. He did not stay in one place but kept moving so he could preach the Good News wherever the Holy Spirit led him. While he was alone, he worked for his living and did not expect the people to provide for his needs but when his companions joined him, it relieved him to give himself up to the mission entrusted to him, to preach the word and spread the Gospel.
When he met with opposition and rejection he did not waste his time with those people, it was their choice to do so. He simply walked away and went elsewhere carrying the message of salvation to those who, moved by the Spirit, would accept the Good News and be saved.
The work of God continues whether we oppose it or not and the Spirit of God ensures that everyone who is ready to listen with an open mind can come to believe and not only individuals but whole households, whole neighborhoods, whole nations, can be saved.
Psalm 98:1-4
Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,
It is because of the Apostles, disciples, evangelists, missionaries, and all who gave up the world in order to spread the Good News, salvation has come to the whole world. To the ends of the earth, to the furthermost parts of the world, all have heard the Name that saves. Whether people choose to accept or reject it is their prerogative, but all who believe, have been accepted by God as His children.
This is why the world continually sings the new song of redemption and tells all those who have ears to hear about the wonderful things that God has done for us. Despite our rejection of Him, God did not abandon us but sent You into the world to save us and to heal our relationship with Him through You.
Thank You for Your saving Blood poured out upon the world and all its people that wash us of our sins and makes us His children again.
John 16:16-20
Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,
For three years You walked with Your disciples teaching them all about our heavenly Father, and the Kingdom of heaven. You revealed all that the Father desired You to reveal about His love for us and the place He has prepared for each one of us. Original sin robbed us of our inheritance and He desired to restore what was forever lost through You, His only beloved Son.
All that would take place was made known to the disciples but fear and sadness caused them to forget it all. You spoke of Your arrest, Your passion, Your death, and Your Resurrection but when they were filled with anxiety there was no room for recollection, contemplation, and reason.
When You died on the Cross and was buried they forgot that You assured them often that You would rise again.
"A little while and you will no longer see me,
and again a little while later and you will see me."
After Your Resurrection, You continued to appear to them until Your Ascension into heaven before You returned to Your Father. And once again we are separated from You for a little while. We weep and mourn in this exile of tears until You come again in glory to claim for all eternity the world that God created, saved, redeemed, sanctified, and will claim eternally. This is why our grief will become joy. Maranatha Beloved, Maranatha!
