DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS
Whoever loves me will keep my word, says the Lord,
and my Father will love him and we will come to him. Jn 14:23
Acts 10:25-26, 34-35, 44-48, Psalm 98:1-4,
1 John 4:7-10, John 15:9-17
Acts 10:25-26, 34-35, 44-48
Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,
Once again we see the hierarchy in action. Peter is our first pope, Your visible head on earth, and he is the one who leads, who takes charge, who discerns the will of God and acts on it. When he speaks we listen for he speaks in truth on matters of faith and morals as directed by the Holy Spirit.
We see the power of the Holy Spirit at work in the gentiles and that He truly blows where He will reconciling all things through You to the Father. God is a generous giver and is ready to pour out His gifts on all who believe in the Good News that saves. Once Peter saw the visible signs of the Holy Spirit upon them he had no hesitation in baptizing them and drawing them into the fold. The growth of the Church is the work of the Holy Spirit this is why it is important that we ask that we are anointed by Him before we set out to do the work of evangelizing.
Psalm 98:1-4
Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,
Once again we see how the psalmist praises God always for all He has done for him. He is aware that it is God who helps him win the victory in battle and it is God who saves. We must rely on You, we must be directed by You, we must discern Your will before we march into battle and we must be docile under the influence of the Holy Spirit.
At every Eucharistic celebration, we come together as God's family to call to mind all that God has done for us and how we are saved because of You. To You alone Beloved, to You alone do we give all the glory and to the Father in the Holy Spirit.
1 John 4:7-10
Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,
You have taught us to love by example. You have shown us what true love is. It is transcendental. It is not dependent on feelings or emotions - it just loves without preconditions. It is love that begets love. It is love that strengthens. It is love that overlooks the faults in another. It is love that forgives no matter how grave the injury.
As You hung on the Cross for three agonizing hours the Father accepted Your Sacrifice in atonement for my sins and those of the whole world. Every breath You drew caused You unimaginable torture and yet You had to breathe as long as there was any strength in Your broken Body. You could have given up at any moment and released Your Spirit to the Father but You that all of Your Being had to be spent until it was physically impossible to give any more for there was no more to give. Atonement had to be made for every sin every committed from the first to the last. When we look at the world today Beloved, is it any wonder that such a terrible demand was necessary. Only when we love with the kind of love that You made visible on the Cross, will there be any hope for us. We each have a calvary to undergo before we are taken up into Your Resurrection. Help me not to complain Beloved but to accept all the suffering I am called to endure in union with Your suffering.
John 15:9-17
Jesus said to his disciples:
"As the Father loves me, so I also love you.
Remain in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father's commandments
and remain in his love.
"I have told you this so that my joy may be in you
and your joy might be complete.
This is my commandment: love one another as I love you.
No one has greater love than this,
to lay down one's life for one's friends.
You are my friends if you do what I command you.
I no longer call you slaves,
because a slave does not know what his master is doing.
I have called you friends,
because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father.
It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you
and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain,
so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you.
This I command you: love one another."

and my Father will love him and we will come to him. Jn 14:23
