Acts 16:11-15, Psalm 149:1-6 & 9, John 15:26---16:4A

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

The Spirit of truth will testify to me, says the Lord,
and you also will testify. Jn 15:26B, 27A

Acts 16:11-15, Psalm 149:1-6 & 9, John 15:26---16:4A

Acts 16:11-15

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

It is clear Beloved that conversion is the work of the Holy Spirit. Faith comes from God we can do nothing to receive it except have a disposition that is willing to accept the Gift. So it is with Lydia. A lot of people gathered there were listening to Paul speaking but it was one woman who is singled out from the rest. She was listening with a heart that was open to grace and not only she but her whole family were baptized because she believed. This is why Beloved we have to guard our family, especially our children, from those who would come and steal what is Yours. If one is lost then generations are lost. If one is saved, subsequent generations are saved.

After being baptized Lydia extended the hospitality of her home to Paul and his companions. So too must we be ready to open our homes and be willing to share what we have with those who have dedicated their lives to spread the Good News.

Psalm 149:1-6 & 9

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

The psalmist encourages us to be praise You in the assembly of the faithful with new songs. This ought not to be difficult for You are constantly doing wonderful new things in our lives. Blessings upon blessings are being poured upon us and the Holy Spirit reveals to us the richness and the grandeur of God's awesome love for us all.

We have a King who has redeemed us, who lay down His life for us and saved us. We have a King who shares His Kingdom with us and the Father of the King who desires that we too share in His Son's Kingship. Wow! You have said that all that the Father has is Yours and You have the power to share it with anyone You choose to.

You have held nothing back Beloved but have freely poured Yourself out for love of me. I do exult in Your glory. I thank You for the privilege of coming to You each morning so I can offer You the praise, worship, thanksgiving, and adoration that is pleasing both to You and to Your Father.

John 15:26---16:4A

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

The disciples are to receive the gift from above - the Holy Spirit. He is the Spirit of Truth and He although He comes from the Father and proceeds from Him, it is You who will send Him. It is the Holy Spirit who will help the disciples who were with You from the first, to recall all You said and did and to enable them to understand why.

Every now and then You told the disciples something that would take place in the future in order to encourage them. You warned them of the persecution that they would have to face once You were no longer with them. What they had done to You they would also do to them and so they ought not to be surprised. Those who sought to kill them would honestly believe that they were doing God's work just as Paul once did. As long as they were ignorant of the Father and of You persecution would be the lot of all Your followers.

We too ought not to be too troubled when we are persecuted for Your Sake and for the sake of the Good News. May we never be too anxious about those who can kill the body but after that can do nothing more.
