DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS
I am the way and the truth and the life, says the Lord;
no one comes to the Father except through me. Jn 14:6
Colossians 1:21-23, Psalm 54:3-4, 6 & 8, Luke 6:1-5
Colossians 1:21-23
Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,
St. Paul reminds us that as Christians, we have been purchased at a price and are now members of Your Body - in order that You can offer us to the Father as a holy people, without fault or blemish. But this cannot be achieved without our striving daily, hourly, moment by moment to put to death those inclinations in us that draw us away from You. We cannot claim ignorance of the Way that leads to Life, and the Truth that You made known to us and that leads to the Father. The Good News of our salvation has been preached to the whole world. Many reject it but those who through grace acknowledge You as our Lord and Savior must remain firmly rooted and grounded in the Truth that sets everyone free provided they believe in You and in Him who sent You.
Psalm 54:3-4, 6 & 8
Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,
Indeed God has given us a Name, a Name above every other name by which we can be saved - Your Name, Jesus, One who saves. You are our mighty deliverer, You stand at the right hand of the Father and You intercede for us. Every prayer we raise in faith with sincere and contrite hearts You hear. Thank You Father for sending Your Son into the world to save us, thank You Beloved for giving us Your Holy Spirit as our Helper. Thank You for the Holy Eucharist that sustains in us a life of grace. I unite my poor ,sinful, self to Your atoning Sacrifice and I will praise You forever for You infinite goodness, mercy, and love.
Luke 6:1-5
Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,
There will always be a large number of people like the Pharisees who are watching the people of God, waiting for an ah ha moment when they can call us out for breaking the Law of God. They do it gleefully, mercilessly, without any compassion for the person and the circumstances that cause people to do certain things. God takes the whole person as an individual into account. You know best how to judge this why the Father has appointed You as the only righteous judge. As for the rest of us we are called to show mercy and understanding for we will never know what makes anyone do what they do expect God.
Thank You for reminding us that You are not only Lord of the Sabbath and Lord of everything else.
While Jesus was going through a field of grain on a sabbath,
his disciples were picking the heads of grain,
rubbing them in their hands, and eating them.
Some Pharisees said,
"Why are you doing what is unlawful on the sabbath?"
Jesus said to them in reply,
"Have you not read what David did
when he and those who were with him were hungry?
How he went into the house of God, took the bread of offering,
which only the priests could lawfully eat,
ate of it, and shared it with his companions?"
Then he said to them, "The Son of Man is lord of the sabbath."
