Wisdom 18:6-9

My soul's beloved, You chose Moses to lead Your people from slavery to freedom. Through him You made knows how You would crush the Pharaoh , rout his army, and with great signs and wonders lead Your people to safety, to freedom to a land of plenty. Those who belong to You can trust You to fight on their behalf. You are God; the same yesterday, today and forever. All those who put their trust in You will never be disappointed. Your children, Your Church, Your faithful offer to the Father the one, holy, perfect and only acceptable Sacrifice from the rising of the sun to its setting and this is why He has stayed His wrath against a sinful world.

Remain with us Lord and remember that although I am a sinner, i desire to love You more and more each day. I know I fail miserably and fall often - continue to be my support and do not withdraw Your love from me for without You I will be lost forever. Be merciful to me Lord and save me.

Psalm 33:1, 12, 18-22

My soul's beloved, the Psalmist reminds us that we are Your chosen, Your faithful, and this knowledge that we belong to You is the cause of our joy. We must be a people of praise at all times and in all circumstances for You have chosen from among the people of all nations to be Your own. We are called by Your Name. We follow You. We walk in the Way that You have pointed out to us. We are yoked to You. You help us share our burdens and Your forgive our sins. You remember that we are sinners and that we are in constant need of Your grace, Your help, and Your strength. Your eyes are upon us constantly for our hope is in You alone we have no other. You are our deliverer, our Savior, our Helper, our Conqueror, our Lord and our God. You will deliver us from eternal death by the power of Your Blood and Your love. We know in whom we have placed all our hope and our trust and the Lord our God will continue to let His Face shine upon us.

Hebrews 11:1-2, 8-12

My soul's beloved, may we never forget that You are a God of the impossible. If we believe in Your Word no matter how foolish it may look to the world You will reward our faith just as You kept Your oath to Abraham whose faith never wavered. Your promised him a son and from this son You assured him that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky and as impossible to count as the sands on the seashore. He waited for many years for this promise to be fulfilled. He had become very old as was almost as good as dead and his Sarah, herself sterile and very old You brought forth life just as You had promised.

You are trustworthy and will always keep Your Word. No life is possible when we go contrary to God's will, God's Word and God's command. Our sterility comes from the depravity of our sins and from our insistence in calling good evil and evil good. Those who sin with impunity will wither and die but those who put all their hope and trust in God and in His Word will find that even in the midst of death there is Life, in the midst of sorrow, Joy and in the midst of tears, laughter. Such is our God.

Luke 12:35-40

My soul's beloved, it is over 2000 years since You came into the world, Incarnate of the Virgin Mary as Man becoming one like us in all things except sin. You have assured us that You will come again and just as You ascended in glory to heaven You will return again in glory to claim those who belong to You and will give us a share in Your inheritance. However, we know not the day nor the hour of Your return. It could be another 2000 years, or several thousands,or You could come today - we do not know; what is certain is that You will come as You have promised. In the meantime we are called to be ready. We are not to soil our baptismal garments, our lamps are to be lit at all times and we are to be filled with the oil of the Holy Spirit. We must be wide awake, alert with expectation and a lively faith. Be prepared, is Your Word to us today. Let us take it to heart and be ready always.
