2 Samuel 24:2, 9-17, Psalm 32:1-2, 5-7, Mark 6:1-6

FEAST OF ST. AGATHA -
 VIRGIN & MARTYR

DAILY HOLY MASS READING

 2 Samuel 24:2, 9-17, Psalm 32:1-2, 5-7, Mark 6:1-6

 2 Samuel 24:2, 9-17

My Beloved, we do many things foolishly out of pride and when wisdom dawns, we realize we have sinned just as David did.  When You permitted him to choose the kind of punishment he desired he chose one that You would administer because he was aware of Your abundant mercy but seeing the innocent suffer for a sin he had committed, he turned to You and asked that You spare the people and strike him instead.

You too my Beloved permitted that we be spared taking upon Yourself the punishment that was rightly ours, unlike David though You were innocent.

Psalm 32:1-2, 5-7

My Beloved, there is truly great joy after the burden of guilt is taken away in the Sacrament  of Penance in Verses 1-2.

Blessed is the one whose sin is forgiven,whose iniquity is wiped away.
2 Blessed are those in whom the Lord sees no guilt
and in whose spirit is found no deceit.

 The above verses describe aptly the power of the grace received in Confession. To experience this joy we must first confess our sins as verse 5 reminds us

5 Then I made known to you my sin
and uncovered before you my fault,
saying to myself,
“To the Lord I will now confess my wrong.”
And you, you forgave my sin,
you removed my guilt.

only then will we receive the grace to run to You, to flee to Your protection as the psalmist reminds us in verses 6-7

6 So let the faithful ones pray
to you in time of distress;
the overflowing waters will not reach them.

7 You are my refuge;
you protect me from distress
and surround me with songs of deliverance.

Thank You my Beloved for this wonderful Sacrament.

Mark 6:1-6

My Beloved, isn't it amazing, astounding even, that of all that  these six verses reveal, there are people who can only latch on to and focus all their energy on the fact that they speak of Your brothers and sisters?  It is beyond belief that they simply cannot see what is so absolutely clear that Your Mama was given the privilege and grace of perpetual virginity.

She gave You a Body.  You and she were united for nine months from the moment of Your conception until You birth.  Surely even a dimwit can understand what this implies.  The woman suffering with the flow of blood for nine years only touched the hem of Your garment and was healed; what then of the Woman who gave You Your Body which was immolated for our sins as a perfect sacrifice pleasing to the Father?

We know that nothing unclean can come into the Presence of God and so even a fool can understand that she had to be pure from the moment of her conception in order to contain within her womb the God Man.  Her perpetual virginity is also a no-brainer.  How could any man lay claim to what belonged wholly and utterly to the Holy Trinity in every aspect of her being from the moment she first drew breath and until she was carried body and soul into heaven to sit at the right hand of her Son?

To the Bride of Christ, the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church is given the grace to know and believe all the marvels that the Lord has done.
