Ezekiel 28:1-10, Deuteronomy 32:26-28, 30, 35-36, Matthew 19:23-30

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS:

M--- Mine these verses are as true today as they were when they were first written and it will continue to be true as long as time lasts.  There are people who make it their life’s work to acquire power, wealth, possessions and physical perfection.  To what end?  Not all use evil means.  Oh no! Many use legitimate means to have all that they possess through working slavishly night and day and using every method possible to reach their goal.  They never had enough of what they crave for.  There is no satisfaction and no peace.  There is no place for the Creator and there is no acknowledgement of Him either as their Father, their Redeemer and their Councilor.  Many are not even aware of Me- there is an emptiness in their life, a yearning, a longing, a straining after but they are unable to understand that it is Me they are hungering for and so they fill this emptiness with the pretty baubles and trinkets that the world dangles before them.  They search for me in all the wrong place and they deliberately fashion gods after their own desires.  Their deities can be anything they want it to be and can be changed to suit the fad and fashion of the day.

But I AM God and not man and I have triumphed.

You are a great God, if You punish, if You bring down, if You strike, it is only to heal, to raise up and to bring to repentance and contrition in order to forgive and perfect,.  Thank You my Beloved.

When one is rich or powerful, one tends to place their hope and trust in their riches or their power or their beauty rather than the Giver of these good gifts.  One makes idols of these gifts and worships them.  Man is weak – God is not and because You are goodness incarnate and always compassionate and merciful, we sinners have hope.  No one who lives for You will lose anything rather we will gain a Kingdom in eternity and in the present age, a peace and joy that the world can never give.
