Hebrews 11:1, Acts 18:23-28, John 16:23-28, Psalm 47:2-3, 8-10

Daily Meditation:  Hebrews 11:1

Hebrews 11:1
Faith is the assurance of what we hope for, being certain of what we cannot see.

Faith, hope and love.  We believe and therefore we hope and faith and hope inspire us to love.  Beloved, all three are gifts of God - freely given.  There is nothing I can do to merit it.  Having these three priceless gifts showered on me my own response must always be a grateful, thankful, joyful, obedient humble heart raised up to God most high.

Daily Mass Readings:  Acts 18:23-28, John 16:23-28, Psalm 47:2-3, 8-10

Acts 18:23-28

The work of the Church is to strengthen the disciples as we see St. Paul doing.  Our Bishops and priests perform the same task today.  They lead the sheep to green pastures and to clear running streams - through the Sacrament of the Eucharist and the other Sacraments through which we receive abundant grace to nourish our souls.  Priscilla and Aquila  were true disciples, they opened their home in welcome and provided all that was lacking.  They did this in union with the Church.  A true disciple will ensure that we remain within the fold of the Church and thus receive the  fullness of Truth.

John 16:23-28
27 for the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and you believe that I came from the Father.

This is true in our own human experience, as parents we too will love those who truly love our children.  Beloved, the more fervently we love You the greater is the assurance that Your Father will love us ardently as well.  I believe that anything I ask the Father in Your Name, He will grant it.  Abba Father, in the Name of the Beloved, Your Son Jesus Christ, pour out Your Holy Spirit on the Church and on me and my family in order that we may respond to Your love in a manner worthy of children of God.
