Daily Meditation: Exodus 34:8-9
Exodus 34:8-9
8 Moses hastened to bow down to the ground and worshiped. 9 He then said, “If you really look kindly on me, my Lord, please come and walk in our midst and even though we are a stiff-necked people, pardon our wickedness and our sin and make us yours.”
My Beloved God, like Moses I prostrate before You and worship You. I acknowledge You as my Lord and my God and I make the prayer of Moses my own. I pray for each member of my family and my friends especially those who are lukewarm and indifferent. If my heart aches for them because they neither know or understand the boundless depths of Your love, how much more must Your own heart lament their indifference. Because I love You Beloved, will You kindly look with favor on those I love? Reveal Yourself to them through Your Holy Spirit. Walk in our midst, forgive our wickedness, sins and indifference and make us Yours forever. Amen.
Daily Mass Readings: Acts 6:8-15, John 6:22-29, Psalm 119:23-24, 26-27, 29-30
Acts 6:8-15
My Beloved, the truly good and holy will never be short of enemies. The witness of holy men and women is a thorn in the side for those who refuse to obey Your law and it reveals the wicked intent of the ungodly. They do not want to change but rather they are afraid the lie in which they cloak their lives will be stripped and they will be revealed in all their ugly nakedness. They would rather kill the Truth that is troubling them. Goodness and Truth can stir up unbelievable hatred and there is no depths to which the ungodly will sink in order to silence the Truth. Thank You my Beloved that You have so ordained it, that for every Saul who applauds the murder of a Stephen we have a new birth in a Paul . Only God could work such a miracle.
John 6:22-29
My Beloved, You are always and eternally present in the Bark of St. Peter. Where Peter is there is Your Church. In the Bark of Peter resides the fullness of Truth. In Sacred Scripture interpreted by the Magisterium, in the twelve, who have laid hands in unbroken succession, and in the Sacred Oral Tradition handed down by the twelve to the early Church Fathers and through the ages, we have the sacred deposit of our faith. These are guarded as the precious jewels they are and lived by every Catholic in its rich heritage in the life of the Church. In matters of faith and morals, St. Peter and his successors will be ever faithful to You, the beloved Bridegroom.
There are many boats of varying sizes who are searching for You and when they find You, they find You with the Apostles and are surprised, for You are present where they never expected You to be - always present in the one, holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.
You give the same answer now as You did then in verse 26,
26 Jesus answered, “Truly, I say to you, you look for me, not because you have seen through the signs, but because you ate bread and were satisfied."
They preach a gospel of prosperity free of suffering, a gospel without the Cross is not the Good News of Salvation. We are called to work for food that lasts and which gives eternal life. The Bread of Life, which You the Son of Man gives in Your own flesh and blood, is the food that helps us on our journey to heaven. Without the Eucharist, our souls will weaken and we may even fall by the wayside and be trampled and destroyed.
27 Work then, not for perishable food, but for the lasting food which gives eternal life. The Son of Man will give it to you, for he is the one the Father has marked.”
Psalm 119:30
30 I have chosen the way of truth; I have set my heart upon your laws.
