Tobit 8:15-16, Acts 7:51----8:1a, John 6:30-35, Psalm 31:3-4, 6-8, 17 & 21

Daily Meditation:  Tobit 8:15-16

Tobit 8:15-16
15 Ragouel blessed the Lord saying, “May you be blessed, O Lord, with all pure and holy blessings. May the saints and all your creatures bless you. May all the angels and the elect bless you forever. 16 May you be blessed for having filled me with joy. What I feared has not happened, but you have treated us with great kindness

My Beloved, may praise, glory, honor and worship be Yours now and forever.  Along with the saints in heaven, the Cherubim and Seraphim, all the holy souls in purgatory and Your faithful people here on earth, I join in worship and adoration of You O holy God.

I acknowledge You as my Lord and my God.  Thank You for walking beside me.  Thank You for the strength You give me, thank You for the peace and confidence with which You fill my heart.  I am Yours my Lord now and forever.   Do with me as You will Amen.

Daily Mass Readings:   Acts 7:51----8:1a, John 6:30-35, Psalm 31:3-4, 6-8, 17 & 21a,

Acts 7:51----8:1a

Verse 8:1a
1 Saul was there, approving his murder.

This verse is true even today.  Your Church is undergoing grave persecution within and without.  She is besieged on  every side.  Thank You for this reminder that persecution is not new and it is not confined to this present age.  Wherever there is persecution, the Church remains full of grace and vigor and witnesses like Stephen are prepared to lay down their lives for You.  You never abandon those who belong to You just as You did not abandon Stephen but allowed him to see Your glory.  Strengthened by You, he was able to face martyrdom serenely and was able to forgive his murderers in perfect imitation of You.  Because of the heroic way in which he died, we have the greatest conversion of all time.   We have Saul who was to become Paul, a saint who will continue to influence Your people until the end of time.  Beloved, in every persecution, we can expect You to raise up new converts to the faith.

John 6:30-35
Verse 35
35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall never be hungry, and whoever believes in me shall never be thirsty.

Beloved, may the significance of this verse be etched on the heart of every faithful Christian and may the Holy Spirit grant them the grace to understand its truth.  The Eucharist is not something that was thought up by You but it was the Father's desire and plan.  You have said often enough in Scripture that You did only that which the Father wanted You to do.  You said only that which He wanted You to say.  And that You only do what You have seen the Father do.  Your work of salvation was the will of the Father.

The perfect love of the Father conceived the Eucharist - He it was that wanted to show us what  Perfect Love looks likes - it looks like You and is You.  Your perfect love for the Father made it possible through the power and love of the Holy Spirit to transform ordinary bread and wine into the precious Body and Blood of the Beloved.  Perfect Love  transforms mortal men into the image and likeness of God, (Gen 1:26)  and we become the envy of angels because we receive love incarnate in the Eucharist.  Alleluia!!!

Psalm 31: 6,17
Into your hands I commend my spirit; you have redeemed me, O Lord, faithful God.
17 Make your face shine upon your servant; save me in your love.
