ST. LUCY VIRGIN AND MARTYR ON THURSDAY OF THE 2ND WEEK OF ADVENT - 2024

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

The Lord will come, go out to meet him.
Great is his beginning and his reign will have no end.

ISAIAH h 48:17-19

My Soul's Beloved,

I know that I and my family have sinned and deserve all that has been visited on us because we have not been faithful in keeping Your commandments. All that we are suffering, all that members of my family are suffering are the result of sin. Had they walked in the Way of Truth, and lived by the Word of Life they would not have strayed. But they did not resist the world, the flesh, and the devil and are now separated from You and from the abundant life that You give to all who belong to You.

My Lord and my God, I believe You care for their salvation far more than I do and because My prayers for them are aligned with Your will I know they will be saved. You will hear and answer me and I will rejoice and give thanks for Your faithfulness. Grant O Lord that their names are never cut off or blotted out before You. I beg You Lord to hear and answer me so I may rejoice in Your goodness, mercy, compassion, faithfulness, and love.

Thus says the Lord, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:
If only you had been alert to my commandments,
your happiness would have been like a river,
your integrity like the waves of the sea.
Your children would have been numbered like the sand,
your descendants as many as its grains.
Never would your name have been cut off or blotted out before me.

PSALM 1:1-4,6

Anyone who follows you, O Lord, will have the light of life.

Happy indeed is the man
who follows not the counsel of the wicked;
nor lingers in the way of sinners
nor sits in the company of scorners,
but whose delight is the law of the Lord
and who ponders his law day and night.

He is like a tree that is planted
beside the flowing waters,
that yields its fruit in due season
and whose leaves shall never fade;
and all that he does shall prosper.

Not so are the wicked, not so!
For they like winnowed chaff
shall be driven away by the wind:
for the Lord guards the way of the just
but the way of the wicked leads to doom.

Anyone who follows you, O Lord, will have the light of life.

MATTHEW 11:16-19

My Soul's Beloved,

Non-Christians, non-believers, and non-practicing Catholics pretend not to know the truth if they admitted to knowing it they would have to abide by it and give up their preferred life of concupiscence. As long as they deliberately choose to misinterpret the law of love and the doctrines of the Church as every member of Your Body must, they set their steps away from the way of life and into the way that leads to eternal damnation.

The world preaches a false doctrine that this life is all there is and that we must live it to please ourselves as long we do not hurt anyone and many are deceived into embracing it because it appeals to our baser instincts. Self-sacrifice, suffering, self-denial, and love as self-donation to the beloved, are anathema to those seduced by the passing pleasures of this world. But we were not created for this life but for the next. We are only pilgrims destined for life with God and eternal bliss in Your Presence.

The one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church, because she possesses the fullness of the Holy Spirit, also contains within herself the fullness of beauty, life, goodness, and truth, she must for she is Your bride. This is why she is the only way to the Father's house, You are the Gate by which anyone who believes in You may enter. If we live in love we live in God and God lives in us and our whole life will be pleasing to You. Love will keep us safe from the snares of the Enemy who never ceases to sow error, dissension, and discord.

‘For John came, neither eating nor drinking, and they say, “He is possessed.” The Son of Man came, eating and drinking, and they say, “Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.” Yet wisdom has been proved right by her actions.’
