ST. MAXIMILIAN KOLBE, PRIEST & MARTYR - WEDNESDAY OF WEEK 19 IN ORDINARY TIME - 2024

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

God in Christ was reconciling the world to himself,
and he has entrusted to us the news that they are reconciled. 2 COR 5:19

EZEKIEL 9:1-7,10:18-22

My Soul's Beloved,

It is the Cross that saves there is no salvation in anyone else by in the One who was crucified on the Cross for our sins and those who are marked by the Cross of Calvary and who are grafted into Your Body O Lord will live. But only the faithful remnant. No one can presume that they will be saved if having been baptized they do not obey the great commandments - love of God above, before, and beyond all else and neighbor as oneself.

The scourge that has come upon the earth over and over again destroying the wicked will continue for in every age and in every generation the godless sin with impunity and laugh at the Creator, scorn the Redeemer, and grieve the Holy Spirit call judgment on themselves and eternal damnation in the land of the dead. But You O Lord are faithful. Your constant Presence which departed from the Temple now rests in the one, holy catholic and apostolic church You founded. It is here that You dwell and even though within her is also found corruption this is Your Body and while the godless within her will perish those who abide in You will remain in You and receive life in its abundance.

He called the man in white with a scribe’s ink horn in his belt and said, ‘Go all through the city, all through Jerusalem, and mark a cross on the foreheads of all who deplore and disapprove of all the filth practised in it.’ I heard him say to the others, ‘Follow him through the city, and strike. Show neither pity nor mercy; old men, young men, virgins, children, women, kill and exterminate them all. But do not touch anyone with a cross on his forehead. Begin at my sanctuary.’

PSALM 112(113):1-6

Above the heavens is the glory of the Lord.

Praise, O servants of the Lord,
praise the name of the Lord!
May the name of the Lord be blessed
  both now and for evermore!
From the rising of the sun to its setting
praised be the name of the Lord!
High above all nations is the Lord,
  above the heavens his glory.
Who is like the Lord, our God,
who has risen on high to his throne
yet stoops from the heights to look down,
to look down upon heaven and earth?
Above the heavens is the glory of the Lord.
MATTHEW 18:15-20

My Soul's Beloved,

You founded a Church, it is Your Living Body, and You have conferred Your authority on Peter and the rest of the apostles. There are those who might chafe against this authority but within this hierarchy we find our place and we are commanded to do our part to build the Body of Christ. We can only do so if we submit to her, obey her laws and precepts, receive the Sacraments worthily, and be filled and replenished with the graces that we receive through them.

The Church gives us direction, she corrects us when we are wrong she upbraids us when we go astray, if we stubbornly refuse to accept correction and mend our ways she can cut us off but will receive us gladly when we repent. The Church is a family with God as our Father, You O Lord, as our Brother, and the Holy Spirit our Paraclete and Helper enabling us to live holy lives pleasing and acceptable to God. Thank You, Lord, for Your assurance for being with the Church and for always hearing her when she gathers us all to pray, praise, glorify, worship, and adore You from the rising of the sun to its setting.

‘I tell you solemnly, whatever you bind on earth shall be considered bound in heaven; whatever you loose on earth shall be considered loosed in heaven.
‘I tell you solemnly once again, if two of you on earth agree to ask anything at all, it will be granted to you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three meet in my name, I shall be there with them.’
