EXODUS 23:20-23 ©
My Soul's Beloved,
You have appointed a special angel to be with me all the days of my life. He is my guardian, my protector, he receives all my prayers, petitions, supplications, intercession, as well as all my praise, worship, adoration, and love for O Lord my God and he presents them to You unceasingly. He is Your messenger given to me for as long as I live.
Forgive me, Lord, for ignoring him so often. I ask him to forgive me and I also ask for this grace my Lord and my God, with the help of Your Holy Spirit to have a greater awareness of my Guardian Angel and a greater appreciation of him.
Angel of God, my guardian dear, thank you for your mighty protection of me. God appointed you to be my guardian from the moment of my conception in my mother's womb and from that moment on you have watched over me faithfully and have never failed me. Only in heaven will I know all that you have done for me and how you kept me safe even when I willfully sought to walk in ways that were dangerous and detrimental to my soul. Thank you.
The Lord says this: ‘I myself will send an angel before you to guard you as you go and to bring you to the place that I have prepared. Give him reverence and listen to all that he says. Offer him no defiance; he would not pardon such a fault, for my name is in him. If you listen carefully to his voice and do all that I say, I shall be enemy to your enemies, foe to your foes. My angel will go before you.’
PSALM (91):1-6,10-11 ©
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
and abides in the shade of the Almighty
says to the Lord: ‘My refuge,
my stronghold, my God in whom I trust!’
and abides in the shade of the Almighty
says to the Lord: ‘My refuge,
my stronghold, my God in whom I trust!’
It is he who will free you from the snare
of the fowler who seeks to destroy you;
he will conceal you with his pinions
and under his wings you will find refuge.
of the fowler who seeks to destroy you;
he will conceal you with his pinions
and under his wings you will find refuge.
You will not fear the terror of the night
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the plague that prowls in the darkness
nor the scourge that lays waste at noon.
nor the plague that prowls in the darkness
nor the scourge that lays waste at noon.
Upon you no evil shall fall,
no plague approach where you dwell.
For you has he commanded his angels,
to keep you in all your ways.
For you has he commanded his angels,
to keep you in all your ways.
The Lord has commanded his angels to keep you in all your ways.
MATTHEW 18:1-5,10 ©
My Soul's Beloved,
An angel has been appointed to guard every child from the moment of their conception and he will remain with them all the days of their life during their pilgrim journey on earth. This is why You warn those who would harm any child, those who seek to rob them of their innocence, and those who commit acts of violence and abuse against them will have their angels stand in judgment against them when they stand before You, the just judge.
The demonic sin of abortion is drowning our world. Just as the blood of Abel cried out to God for vengeance so too the blood of these most vulnerable little ones are crying out to God at the injustice of having their precious lives snuffed out. This silent, but horrific holocaust of innocent blood is the reason why our world is on the brink of chaos.
It would seem, Lord, that God has abandoned our depraved world to annihilate our own selves by our willful, deliberate choice of sterility and death over fecundity and life. In a world that is hell-bent on preying on the innocence of God's little ones, You make it clear in today's Gospel passage that it is the children and all who are childlike who are greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Heaven is filled with angels who have been denied the joy of guarding, guiding, and protecting countless little babies who were ripped apart in their mother's womb, their lives destroyed and their dismembered little body parts either incinerated as waste, thrown away as trash in the garbage or used in ways that cry out to God for justice.
Today, as the Church celebrates our Guardian Angels, may wisdom prevail, and may the world welcome, celebrate, and cherish life from conception to old age.
The disciples came to Jesus and said, ‘Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?’ So he called a little child to him and set the child in front of them. Then he said, ‘I tell you solemnly, unless you change and become like little children you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. And so, the one who makes himself as little as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
‘Anyone who welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. See that you never despise any of these little ones, for I tell you that their angels in heaven are continually in the presence of my Father in heaven.’
‘Anyone who welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. See that you never despise any of these little ones, for I tell you that their angels in heaven are continually in the presence of my Father in heaven.’
