My Soul's Beloved,

When we have You we lack nothing. When we believe in Your Word and abide by it and permit Your Word to be the lamp whose light illumines our path then as the prophet assures the people of God, no good thing will be withheld from us.

We are the new Jerusalem, the new people of God who walk with You, His Son, with You, and in You, there is no darkness,  no sorrow, only light and joy.

Thank You, Beloved, for being the fulfillment of all God's promises. When we have You, when we follow You, when Your Spirit abides in us, and we have God who is Your Father as our Father as well we lack nothing, for we possess the fullness of God in us.

My Soul's Beloved,

The Evangelist Luke gives us a clear timeline of when the things that he writes about occurred. Our faith is not mythology nor is it made up of legends - God did pierce time and space to become Emmanuel - God with us. John the Baptist was Your cousin, the precursor, sent by God to prepare the way, to open hands and minds, so they would be ready to receive You.

John preached a baptism of repentance. The waters in which those who came to him were immersed was a sign of contrition, an acknowledgment of their sins, and an expression of desiring to walk with God with greater integrity. John lit a fire of expectant hope in the crowds who came to him and they listened eagerly as he promised a new dawn when God would walk among His people.

Echoing the prophecy of Isaiah he assured the people of God that all that was lacking in their lives God would fill and all the obstacles that kept them from truly encountering God would be removed. Sin would no longer hold people captive for God was coming to free all who believed from the shackles of sin.

A voice cries in the wilderness:
Prepare a way for the Lord,
make his paths straight.
Every valley will be filled in,
every mountain and hill be laid low,
winding ways will be straightened
and rough roads made smooth.
And all mankind shall see the salvation of God.
