MEMORIAL OF ST. AMBROSE, BISHOP & DOCTOR OF THE CHURCH - 2021

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

The day of the Lord is near;
Look, he comes to save us.

ISAIAH 40:1-11 ©

My Soul's Beloved,

We cannot be happy apart from God. Sin distances us from You, and the further we stray the greater is our loneliness and desolation.

The Father sent You into the world in fulfillment of all the prophecies ever made through the mouths of the prophets. In the fullness of time, God sent His Son, in human flesh, in doing so the Father made a way for us to return to Him through belief in You.

John the Baptist, the last and greatest of all the prophets announces the beginning of a new era, a new dawn, when God would set His people free from slavery to sin and redeem them with the Blood of His only Son.

You, my Beloved, have atoned for the sins of the world and everyone who desires to belong to the Kingdom of God can choose to do so by believing in You and in the Father who sent You.

You make it possible to fill the valleys in our lives and to topple the mountains that impede our progress to God. Without You, there is no salvation, You alone have the power to forgive our sins by the merits You won for us on the Cross. You paid the price for our redemptions.

You have made us a new creation, You have given us a new song, we are redeemed because God sent You into the world to bear our punishment and atone for our sins. We are mortal. We will die. But by the power of Your Word O Lord, we who are ransomed by Your Blood, will rise again and live forever.

Here is the Lord coming with power,
his arm subduing all things to him.
The prize of his victory is with him,
his trophies all go before him.
He is like a shepherd feeding his flock,
gathering lambs in his arms,
holding them against his breast
and leading to their rest the mother ewes.

My Soul's Beloved,

Today, I wish to thank God for creating me. God willed me into
being. Even before He lay the foundations of the world I was in the mind and heart of God. He planned a glorious life for me, one in which He would slowly but surely, all the days of my life, do all that was necessary, no matter how painful, no matter the suffering I had to endure, and even though I would be heartbroken over and over again, He did not and does not hesitate to break me and mold me in Your image.

I know it is a long process because I am hard, willful, stubborn, selfish, and often difficult to teach but You, Beloved, are always willing to come in search of me. You do so relentlessly and will continue to do so until I take my last breath on earth.

Make me amenable to You will O Lord for it is only in total surrender to You that I will find true joy and perfect peace.

'It is never the will of your Father in heaven that one of these little ones should be lost.'
