WEDNESDAY OF THE FOURTEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - 2021

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

The kingdom of God is close at hand:
repent and believe the Good News. MK 1:15

GENESIS 41:55-57,42:5-7,17-24 ©

My Soul's Beloved,

When we look back at all the painful events that took place in our lives we can see how each of those experiences has shaped our character making us the people we have become. All who place their trust in You, all who have faith in You, will understand that every sorrow, every loss, every heartache, and heartbreak, every mistake we ever made, has helped us face new challenges, difficulties, and hardships with greater courage and confidence knowing that You never fail nor do You abandon those who belong to You.

At the time when Joseph's envious brothers plotted to kill him but eventually thought better of it sold him instead, God was with him all through his trials. And even though his brothers sought to do him evil, God eventually used Joseph to bless them.

Just as our own experiences help to build, increase, and strengthen our faith if we allow them to, so do does salvation history teach us that we can always trust God.

God used one man, Joseph, to provide bread not only to Egypt but for the world and God continues to use You, the Son of Man and the Son of God, to provide the Bread of Life to all who desire it.

No matter how grievously we sin, as Joseph's brothers did, we can count on Your mercy and compassion, if we are truly repentant and contrite. Once the burden of our guilt is lifted from us we will experience once again the joy of being sons and daughters of God. Thank You, Beloved, for winning our redemption by willingly paying the debt we owed.

My Soul's Beloved,

How can we be inspired to sing You a new song of praise every day? We can recall all the blessings poured upon us daily and when we bring to mind these blessings they are ever fresh and new. You heap blessing upon us constantly every breath we breathe is a blessing and hence we can never run out of praise to You for Your graciousness to us.

Your love is the sweet, easy, light, burden that is placed on us, and because we are loved so generously and graciously our own response must be to joyfully and willingly surrender our whole being to you, our life, our will, our thoughts, our deeds, our very soul.

You have the power to use all things to work in our favor and You do. Every evil plan forged against us You will turn into a blessing. No matter if armies come against us they will not prevail because You fight our battles for us all we need to do is stay still and trust You.

Beloved, it is the little ones, those with a childlike of heart and simplicity of spirit, whose faith is never be shaken. They know that Your love is stronger than death and You will give them food, rest, and eternal life in the Kingdom of God.

My Soul's Beloved,

The successors of the Twelve Apostles continue to receive the authority that You gave them over unclean spirits, the power to cast them out and to cure all kinds of diseases and sickness. The Sacraments You instituted do have the power to cleanse, to heal, to strengthen, and to make whole in mind, heart, body, soul, and spirit. If the member of Your Body, the Church, do not perform with the same power that the miracles that You did along with Your Apostles, it is because we lack an expectant faith necessary for miracles.

The names of the twelve apostles were given to us by the evangelists: they are first, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew; James the son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, the one who was to betray him.

To this day the Church keeps a faithful record of all the Popes who have succeeded Peter and the authority given to him is passed on faithfully to each. The mission and mandate You gave to the Twelve and to every disciple are timeless: Repent and believe the Good News for the kingdom of heaven is close at hand.
