TUESDAY OF THE FOURTEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - 2021

DAILY HOLY MASS READING

I am the good shepherd, says the Lord;
I know my own sheep and my own know me. JN 10:14

GENESIS 32:23-33 ©

My Soul's Beloved,

If we are to encounter You, if we are to have a personal experience with You then we have to strip ourselves of everything all ties all material possessions and come before You with no baggage at all to hinder and distract us. Often in the Gospels, we are told that You went away alone to prayer leaving an example for us to follow.

Our whole life is one of wrestling with God. We wrestle with God's will and plan for our lives and our own plans and dreams for ourselves. It is hard to let go of the things we believe we need and want in order to live meaningful and fruitful lives. But if we leave it up to You You will bless us more magnificently than our human mind can conceive.

You struck Jacob leaving him with a limp all his life. We receive the Sacraments and we marked and sealed forever as Your people, Your special possession. We are marked forever as heirs to Your Kingdom. Thank You.

PSALM 17:1-3,6-8 ©

My Soul's Beloved,

We have this assurance from the lived experience of holy men and women in Sacred Scripture as well as through the annals of the history of the Church that You O Lord, hear and answer every cry of those whose lives are aligned to Yours.

You know all things, You search our hearts, You know our desires and our thoughts even before we know them ourselves and You know if they are good, holy, pure, righteous will judge us rightly and bless us.

You never abandon those who cling to You. Those who walk in Your shadow, those who are saved by the power of Your Name from the wiles of the Enemy.

The psalmist tells me that You guard me as the apple of Your eye. You hide me in the shadow of Your wings. Some day, when this life ends, and I breathe my last breath on earth, I will open my eyes to behold Your glory forever. Thank You, for this glorious hope that I have in You and Your love.

My Soul's Beloved,

Miracles abound all around us for Your Holy Spirit is constantly at work in our lives, sadly, like the Pharisees, people prefer to give the glory due to You to everyone else but You. The Pharisees saw clearly that You possessed power not only over evil spirits but over every power both spiritual and physical and yet because they would rather attribute Your power that was clearly divine to demons. Envy and fear are what causes so many in the world to deny the truth.

You did not permit Your enemies to intimidate You although their numbers were growing, instead, You went through all the towns and villages and taught in the synagogues. You proclaimed the Good News and healed all who came to You of all their diseases both spiritual and physical. Too often we become sad, anxious, and discouraged when we face opposition and we give up. This is the lot of every disciple and You have warned us that what they did to the Master they will do to His servants as well.

Life is short and in the little while given to us, we must do all the good we can in this hurting, sinful, sad world that refuses to know You and be healed and saved. Many through sheer ignorance, many through the pride and envy of those who have their own personal agendas that they will guard fiercely and brutally. Unless we are prepared to lay down our lives as You did for us many who would otherwise be saved will be lost. The time here, the harvest is ready, but the labourers are not only too few but lack the courage to face the Enemy. Help us, Lord, without Your aid, we will falter at the starting line.
