FRIDAY OF THE TWENTY-EIGHTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - 2020

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

May your love be upon us, O Lord, as we place all our hope in you. PS 32:22

EPHESIANS 1:11-14

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

St. Paul tells us in no uncertain terms that it is God's will that all who are baptized and grafted into Your Body are claimed as God's own people according to the predetermined plan of the One who laid the foundations of the heavens and the earth.

As part of the divine will, we who place all our hope in You live for Your praise and glory. We are privileged to hear the word of truth, the Good News of our salvation, and having heard the Eternal Word of the Father, we have believed. In believing, we have been sealed in the promise of the Holy Spirit of God, given to us as a first pledge in our redemption as God's own possession. It is through His unfathomable will that we have received this privilege of grace for His praise and glory.

PSALM 33:1-2, 4-5, 12-13

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

We are Your people, willed by the Father to be called by Your Name and to be Your inheritance. This is why we have a song in our heart, and exultant praise on our lips.

You are worthy of praise, adoration, thanksgiving, and worship for all You have done for us, for laying down Your life to save us, and for taking upon Yourself the punishment that was ours.

Thank You, Father, for Your plan of redemption that gave us such a glorious Savior as Your Son who in turn sent us His Holy Spirit as our Helper and Guide so we can journey safely under His watchful vigilance to the place of our eternal rest.

LUKE 12:1-7

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

Every word uttered by the Eternal Word of God will not return to the Father until it has accomplished all that He wills. This is why all that You said to the crowds who thronged around You during Your public ministry has significance for all people of every age until time shall cease.

Let us pay careful attention to Your urgent warning to Your disciples and the great crowds who had gathered to listen to You and consider what it means for us today.

‘Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees – that is, their hypocrisy. Everything that is now covered will be uncovered, and everything now hidden will be made clear. For this reason, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in hidden places will be proclaimed on the housetops.

Evil prefers the cover of night. The wicked are blind to the Truth that the Light of the Son of God cannot be overcome by darkness. Our silent, evil plotting, our secret sins that we believe are dead and buried in the deepest darkest depths of our beings will be uncovered. Every hypocrite believed by the world to be righteous will be revealed for the knaves they actually are.

Every faithful disciple is assured and encouraged today by Your the words. Fear can never be an emotion experienced by those who believe in You. You are the Eternal Truth of God and You give eternal life to all who place their lives in Your service and in the service of the Kingdom of God. We are God's crowning glory and we are created to give Him praise, glory, and honor by growing more like You each day. We have far greater value than many sparrows because You, the Son of God, lay down Your life for us so we may never taste eternal death. Thank You.
