TUESDAY OF WEEK THIRTEEN IN ORDINARY TIME - 2020

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

My soul is waiting for the Lord,
I count on his word. PS 103:5

AMOS 3:1-8,4:11-12

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

Through the mouth of the prophet Amos, God thunders angry words of disappointment and frustration at the faithlessness and sins of the people, He chose from all the nations to be His own. He prophesies against the children of Israel. He laments overs His people whom He brought out of slavery from Egypt and accompanied through the 40 years their exile until they arrived at the promised land, a people He had wooed time and time again but who stubbornly turned away from Him. To these people and to the world He said:

It is the Lord who speaks.
This therefore, Israel, is what I plan to do to you,
and because I am going to do this to you,
Israel, prepare to meet your God!

And God's answer to His people and to the world is to meet You, our God in the Face of a little Baby born in Bethlehem. The spotless, sinless, perfect Babe, the Son of Man, who would bear the weight of our transgressions, take on our guilt, and enter into our death, so we may enter into Your life for all eternity.

PSALM 5:5-8

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

The repentant sinner will always be a welcome guest. But the sinner who loves sin, the proud the haughty, the boastful, who reject You reject their only means of salvation in and through You.

Thank You for Your love, protection and kindness to all who desire to make their home in You. Thank You for giving us access to Your Sacred Heart which is our home, our refuge, and our sanctuary.

Jesus meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto Yours. Amen.

MATTHEW 8:23-27

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

Every now and then the storms of life overwhelm us. The turbulence of the waves and the manic speed of the winds threaten to destroy us. Presently, the whole world is in great turmoil as it has been at various times in history.

Fear grips the heart of many suffering anxiety, depression, loneliness, sickness, lack of peace, uncertainty, and a host of other problems to which they can find no answers. Many do not know that You are always the yes and the amen of God our Father for in You all the promises of God have come to be a Yes, and we also say in his name: Amen!

Thank You that You are Emmanuel, God with us, and no matter how high the waves, or how terrifying the storm, with You in us, and we in You, the Eternal Word of the Living God, not a hair on our head will perish. Thank You, for the certain hope we have in You, Beloved.

To those who are afraid You will always say, ‘Why are you so frightened, you men of little faith?’ and with a word You will rebuke the winds and the sea; and all will be calm again.
