DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS
2 TIMOTHY 2:8-15
My Beloved, Soul of my soul,
Paul was driven by his love for You. After his encounter with You, he was a new man the old was put to death and he offered his entire life in service to the mission You entrusted to him. He suffered greatly but counted it all joy. There was a zeal for the Word that created a fire within him and could only find release when he preached the Gospel. The Good News and the preaching of it is one that must dominate our lives as it did Paul's.
He preaches boldly that anyone who denies You is denied salvation. He spent himself going where the Spirit prompted to go with the burning desire that all who heard him would believe and be saved. Too many of us are closed in on our lives, we never open our mouths, we are unfaithful to our own mission received at our baptism. To us is entrusted the Truth and we will be held accountable for not sharing it.
PSALM 25 4-5AB, 8-10, 14
My Beloved, Soul of my soul,
"Teach me your ways O Lord."
You Yourself are the Way that leads to eternal life, there is no other. You have also warned us that the path is narrow that leads to life and few choose it because we are obsessed with obtaining everything we can to live lives of ease.
You are the Covenant between God and Your people. Those who receive You and abide faithfully in You, have God for their Father, You for their Brother and Friend, and the Holy Spirit for their Guide.
MARK 12:28-34
My Beloved, Soul of my soul,
The Teacher of the Law listened to what You had to say and was filled with admiration as he heard You speak and dialogue with those who were with You.
Love is the language of the Gospels. If our lives are ruled by the first and second commandments, if every word, thought and deed is dictated by them, then we will have understood what true discipleship is.
We cannot love You unless we know You and the only way to know You is to respond to Your invitation to come to You and learn from You. When we do, our life like Paul's will be transformed and nothing will keep us from announcing the Good News that saves all who hear it and believe.
