TUESDAY OF THE FOURTH WEEK OF EASTER - 2020

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

My sheep hear my voice, says the Lord;
I know them, and they follow me. JN 10:27

ACTS 11:19-26

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

Too often we look at times of trouble as times of despair and anxiety yet it is not so. The disciples were scattered because they were being persecuted so they went to different areas and preached the Gospel. They carried the Seed of the Word with them and planted it wherever they went. Thus they carried out the mission entrusted to all disciples to go out into the world and spread the Good News.

The work of evangelization was done with such grace and power by the Holy Spirit that the Apostles in Jerusalem received word of the growing numbers of believers. They sent Barnabas who saw first-hand the grace of God at work and was filled with joy as he encouraged the new believers.

The people of Antioch saw that Barnabas was a good man, filled with the Holy Spirit and faith and on seeing the abundance of good fruit in him, many more came to believe.

When we evangelize our own conduct plays an important part in drawing people to You, this is why we must always be clothed in the Holy Spirit.

PSALM 87:1B-7

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

You have built Your Church on the Rock and You are her Cornerstone. It is in her that You make Your dwelling place. The Church is the City of God built on Mount Zion, people from every nation come streaming to her. Within her gates are found the fullness of grace, beauty, and truth for she is clothed with every virtue through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Of every Christian born in the Church, it ought to be said with pride that they are of her for they are marked with the Holy Spirit and sealed in Your Blood.

Through the witness and example of the life of every Christian may many more come to believe so that the whole world will resound with praise, glorifying God for all that He has done for us through You, His only Son.

Thank You, Beloved, for making Your home in us.

JOHN 10:22-30

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

Aren't we often like the Jews who demanded that You tell them that You are the Christ despite all they had seen and witnessed? You said, "I told you and you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify to me. But you do not believe, because you are not among my sheep."

But we, Beloved, are Your sheep. We have heard Your voice and we follow You. We thank You for giving us eternal life in You and for Your assurance that we will not perish because we are sealed in the New Covenant of Your Blood.

In this time of trial in the world, we thank You that we are the sheep of Your flock. No one can snatch away what is Yours. The Father Himself who created us has drawn us to You and in You, we desire to remain until You return in glory and majesty.
