FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER - 2020

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS



I am the way, the truth and the life, says the Lord;
no one comes to the Father, except through me. JN 14:6

ACTS 6:1-7

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

We must discern our place in God's plan if not chaos and discontent become evident pretty quickly as the Apostles found out in the early days of the Church. 

We must also remember that the Apostles did not ask the people to randomly pick up seven people rather, they had to have a good reputation and be filled with the Holy Spirit. Good character matters if we lack integrity we cannot be trusted. 

Service in the Church is rendered in many different ways but no matter how we serve, we only play a supporting role and must always serve well and with humility. 

PSALM 33:1-2, 4-5, 18-19

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

The psalmist speaks to our own situation in these strange times. He invites us to exult in You and give thanks and praise with music and song and to trust in Your mercy.

All that we know of You through salvation history as well as in our own personal lives teaches us that we can safely place all our hope and trust in You. Because of Your unfailing goodness, kindness, mercy, compassion, You will not try us beyond our ability to endure. You lead us through the dark valley to victory and triumph. Alleluia! 

1 PETER 2:4-9

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

Peter reminds us that our faith is the greatest gift of all. For those of us born in Christian homes, we are truly blessed for we have been nurtured in the faith even while still in the womb.

You are the Cornerstone of the Temple built in the New Jerusalem, the City of God. It is here that You choose to live. Those who reject the Church due to hardness of heart and pride become stumbling blocks that causes them as well as those they lead to fall.

Let us remain ever mindful and grateful that if we are 'a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people that are Your own,' it is only because You called us from darkness into the fullness of Your own marvelous light.

JOHN 14:1-12

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

At various times in our lives, our hearts are troubled, this is one of those times. Speaking directly to our situation in these uncertain days we take comfort from Your words, 

“Do not let your hearts be troubled.
You have faith in God; have faith also in me."

Yes, Beloved, we know the Way. We are yoked to You and we walk with You, this is why we need not be afraid. You are the Truth and Life and if we walk in the Light of the Truth we will not stumble or fall by the wayside.

Thank You for every one of Your promises. We believe in You and we place all our hope and trust in You. Never has it been known that You have ever disappointed those who are Your own.
