GENESIS 12:1-4A

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

The Father sent You forth into the world to a nation and a people He had chosen for His own and from this land, You were to bring all nations to Him.

In fulfillment and completion of the promise made to Abram, God has made Your Name great to people of every nation, every race, every culture, and every language.  Your Name is above every other. At Your Name, every knee shall bow and every tongue confess to the glory of God the Father that You are the Lord.

All who believe in You and follow You are blessed.

PS 33:4-5, 18-22

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

Today, when the world is facing a pandemic of the Covid 19 virus and terror is gripping the nations we turn our face to You, the living God.

The psalmist reminds us that Your Word is upright and all Your works are trustworthy. Your kindness is evident in the whole world and Your eyes are upon us who cry out to You for help. You are our deliverer and we ask You to deliver us from this scourge that is plaguing the world.

We wait on You Beloved,

Our soul waits for the LORD,
who is our help and our shield.
May your kindness, O LORD, be upon us
who have put our hope in you.

2 TIMOTHY 1:8B-10

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

There are some pretty wonderful things that St. Paul says to Timothy which also applies to us. We are saved not for ourselves, nor to live namby-pamby mediocre, self-indulgent lives but to live holy lives. If we take this invitation seriously then life is certainly no picnic.

Thank You for the graces bestowed upon us through the Sacraments, grace that strengthens us and gives us the courage to help establish Your Kingdom on earth.

You have destroyed death and have made manifest through Your glorious resurrection that we too can have a share in it. May we not squander what has been given to us freely and in such abundance.

MATTHEW 17:1-9

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

Peter, James, and John belonged to Your inner circle. These were the ones You chose over the others to share intimate experiences like Your agony in the garden of Gethsemane and when You raised Jairus' daughter to life. Now, once again You invite the three to witness this mystical and heavenly encounter between heaven and earth. They glimpsed Your divinity. They saw Moses and Elijah as a testament to the truth that death does not have the final word and that You are the fulfillment of the law and the prophets.

Your Father was also deeply aware that the thought of the great tribulation You were to endure for our sake, distressed You so He sent to strengthen You for that terrible hour that was to come upon You. His voice saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him” was not only an affirmation of His love for You as well as an acknowledgment that You were indeed His dearly beloved Son and that we were to listen to You.
