DANIEL 9:4B-10
My Beloved, Soul of my soul,
We tend to gloss over our own sins, faults, failings, weaknesses, errors in judgment but are very careful in naming and shaming the sins and faults of others. We fail to love You and each other as we ought. Today, in this glorious season of Lent, I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I acknowledge that I have sinned in thought, word, and deed. I have sinned even more greatly in the things that I have failed to do. Grant me true contrition of heart and the grace to make a good confession so I may be cleansed of all my sins. Grant me the grace to resolve to sin no more and the will to keep that resolve. Amen.
Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for the sake of the sorrowful passion of Your Son, have mercy on me and on the whole world. Amen.
PSALM 79:8, 9, 11 AND 13
My Beloved, Soul of my soul,
There is nothing truer than the fact that I am a sinner. I was born in sin and I continue to fail, falter, and fall constantly. I am weak I have no strength of my own. In Your goodness, compassion, mercy, and great love hasten to me and help me. Please do not remember the sins of my youth even though time and time again I deliberately turned away from You and chose to do was displeasing in Your sight. I was foolish but now Beloved, I come to You in sorrow and repentance. Without You and Your help, I will perish forever. You have broken the chains of slavery to sin and death on the Cross for all who believe. Count me as one of the sheep in Your flock and lead me all the days of my life on the path that leads to eternal life. Amen.
LUKE 6:36-38
My Beloved, Soul of my soul,
No one can outdo God in generosity. Yes, I am a sinner, but this truth need not drive me to despair like it did Judas, for I have a God who paid the price of my iniquity and the iniquity of the world.
Thank You, Beloved, for Your invitation today to be like my Father in heaven, to show mercy as mercy has been shown to me. To stop judging everyone even though I myself have a beam lodged in my own eye. To stop condemning everyone to hellfire and brimstone when I have, on many occasions, been a worthy candidate for hell myself but for Your mercy.
Grant me the grace to give as You do, to forgive as You do, to show mercy and compassion to all just as You have shown mercy and compassion to me. May I never withhold granting to another any gift that they may ask of me, especially things that cost me, like the giving of my time and the giving of myself; for in measure that I give will receive and even more abundantly for with You, the Father, and the Holy Spirit there is no measure.
