ISAIAH 2:1-5

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

Thank You for the Prophet Isaiah and for all the prophecies that he received through the Holy Spirit that continue to inspire us and give us hope. Our hearts are full of joy because our God has come to us, our Lord has visited us. Thank You for establishing Your Kingdom here among us and in our very beings. All who believe have established the Kingdom in their hearts and it is we who have to announce this Good News to the world.

"Come, let us climb the LORD's mountain,
to the house of the God of Jacob,
that he may instruct us in his ways,
and we may walk in his paths."

Beloved, it is only when we know You as You are and allow the Holy Spirit to lead, direct, and instruct us as long as we are alive that the prophecy of peace that You came to give will become a reality in our broken world. In the meanwhile, may all who believe in You walk together in Your Light and Your Truth.

PSALM 122: 1-9

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

Thank You for the Commandment that requires that we come together once a week to celebrate the Lord's Day as a community and a family. When we offer to the Father the only pleasing Sacrifice acceptable to Him, that we receive remission of our sins and feast at the Banquet of Love. Without this Food and Drink, we would surely die.

Grant my Beloved, that we who believe so shine Your Light of Truth and Love in the world that many will come to believe as we do that salvation comes only through You and so be saved.

ROMANS 13:11-14

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

We are such lumpen creatures, we lack the will and the imagination to grasp what the saints, sages, and prophets in the Church continually shout from the rooftops. We prefer to cravenly respond to the dangerous siren call of the flesh and the world, and constantly indulge temporary sentient desires that ultimately bring us nothing but darkness of spirit.

Today, on the First Sunday of Advent, St. Paul reminds us in clear succinct words how we are to live our lives for the night has gone and the day is upon us. It is time to wake up from our slumber and put on the armor of Light. It is time to avoid every occasion of sin kindled by the desires of our flesh and be led by the Spirit of Life.

MATTHEW 24:37-44

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

It is so easy to allow eating, drinking, and merrymaking to become the be-all and end-all of our lives. We can get so caught up in the affairs of the world that we forget that time is inexorably running out for every one of us and before we know it the day of reckoning and judgment will be at hand.

In the Gospel today You remind us that the world as we know it and life as we know it will come to an end. The world does not belong to us we are only its stewards and every man, woman, and child is our brother and sister. It is time to wake up and prepare for that final hour when we will stand before You not as Savior but as Judge may we not be ashamed when we do.
