Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
and I will give you rest, says the Lord. Mt 11:28
Genesis 23:1-4, 19; 24:1-8, 62-67
Psalm 106:1B-2, 3-4A, 4B-5
Matthew 9:9-13
Genesis 23:1-4, 19; 24:1-8, 62-67
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
You made a Covenant with Abraham when You asked him to leave his land and his people to travel to an unknown country where You would bless him and his descendants abundantly. Now after the death of his wife Sara, and to ensure that his son Isaac did not marry a foreigner but one from his own country, as God desired, he asked the senior servant of his household to go back to his country and obtain a wife for Isaac from his kindred. When the servant asked if the woman refused to leave her people and come with him should he take Isaac there? And Abraham said, "Never take my son back there for any reason."
Going back to the old way of life is never a good idea. Once we have made a commitment to follow wherever God leads, we need to continue to look ahead and move forward, only then can we evolve and grow.
When the servant returned with Rebekah, the woman chosen to be Isaac's wife, she covered her face with her veil when she knew that the man approaching them was the one whom she was to wed.
In the words of Scripture we read:
"The servant recounted to Isaac all the things he had done.
Then Isaac took Rebekah into his tent;
he married her, and thus she became his wife.
In his love for her, Isaac found solace
after the death of his mother Sarah."
Marriage is truly a wonderful Sacrament that makes the two one and in it, one finds solace, companionship, comfort and above all unconditional, unselfish love.
Psalm 106:1B-2, 3-4A, 4B-5
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
Today I pray that You grant me this grace to give You unceasing praise and thanks for You are truly good. You are compassionate, gracious, kind, and merciful. Undeserving though I am, You continue to bless me and those I love abundantly.
My Beloved, I know that I ought to always choose to do what is right but I don't. I fall constantly. Help me Lord to overcome my habitual sins and to lean on You and the strength You provide in my weakness.
Thank You, Beloved, for saving me. Thank You for the abundant richness of Your grace granted to me freely. May I rejoice always that I am counted among the people You have chosen to be Your Own, and for the wonderful inheritance in the glory of Your Company in heaven that awaits me.
Matthew 9:9-13
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
There is only just one invitation, one call, one word You say to every baptized Christian, "Follow Me." There is only one response to that we can and must make, like Matthew the tax collector, we get up and follow You.
Beloved, we receive this invitation over and over again because there is no joy in anything the world can offer greater than the joy of being Your disciple. Too often we are both blind and deaf because we are consumed by the siren call of the world. However, You will continue to call sinners because You know we need You, the Great Physician to heal all our ills of mind, body, and spirit.
Grant me the grace to enter the inner silence within my soul so I may hear Your call and follow You till the end.
