DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS
Memorial of Saint Ambrose, Bishop and Doctor of the Church
Behold, our Lord shall come with power;
he will enlighten the eyes of his servants.
Isaiah 29:17-24, Psalm 1, 4, 13-14, Matthew 9:27-31
Isaiah 29:17-24
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
Once again You promise that the faithful shall be fruitful, those who have turned away from sin will behold Your Face, those who were once deaf will hear Your Voice and shall live. The humble, the lowly, the little one, the poor in spirit will rejoice in You who are the Son of God yet deigns to come to us clothed in humanity to reveal to us the unconditional love of the Father.
We need fear nothing for the tyrants and bullies of this world will be crushed and forgotten forever. We have a God who saves and we will walk in the victory obtained for us by Your Cross. Thank You Beloved for the gift of faith that has been handed down to our children. Thank You for Your assurance that they too shall keep Your Name holy. Thank You for Your promise that even though we may falter and stumble along the way You will help and encourage us. You will not try us beyond our strength to endure.
Psalm 1, 4, 13-14
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
You are my light, my hope, my joy, my salvation. You are my refuge, my hiding place, my rock, and my strength. I fear nothing for You hold me by the right hand and lead me. I walk in Your shadow, You are my shade. No harm will come to me. The Enemy will not dare to approach me for You, my God are with me.
Grant me this grace my Lord that I may live in Your house all the days of my life and there behold Your beauty, Your goodness, Your ineffable grace, and be filled with Your unending love.
I thank You for Your assurance that as the days of my life here on earth draw to a close I shall enter into the fullness of Your joy. Until the dawning of that hour, You will bestow upon me all the courage I need to face whatever challenges come my way. I will not bow down in fear for You My Lord will bear my burdens with me and help me every step of the way.
Wait for the LORD with courage;
be stouthearted, and wait for the LORD.
Matthew 9:27-31
My Love, Beloved of my soul,
I believe that You can do for me what You did for the two blind men who followed You crying out to You to have pity on them. Before You restored their sight You asked if they believed that You could do this for them and they answered, "Yes, Lord." You then touched their eyes and said, "Let it be done for you according to your faith." Your Word and our faith in it go together. Your Word stands true and unchangeable our faith, however, can waver, can be weak, can plummet or soar. We receive in the measure that we believe.
Lord God, Beloved of my soul, pity us as You pitied the two blind men in today's Gospel. We do have faith, we do believe, but increase our faith and our belief. Open our eyes that we may truly see and understand. And having received every good and perfect gift from You, let us like the two men who had their sight restored go out and spread the word about You wherever we go.
