Acts 15:1-6, Psalm 122:1-5, John 15:1-8

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

Remain in me, as I remain in you, says the Lord;
whoever remains in me will bear much fruit. Jn 15:4A, 5B

Acts 15:1-6, Psalm 122:1-5, John 15:1-8

Acts 15:1-6

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

In the Reading of today, we see the Magisterium at work from the very beginning. We also understand that it is important to have a hierarchy that can be trusted because it is of God, has You as its Cornerstone, and Peter as its Rock.

When dissension was created among the believers by those who came from Judea, who wanted to introduce the Mosaic practice of circumcision, and insisted that it was necessary to be saved, we see how, if it were not for the hierarchy, errors would creep in. Instead of allowing dissension to split them apart, guided by the Holy Spirit, the brought the problem to the Church in Jerusalem to settle it among them once and for all. On their way, they testified to the work of the Holy Spirit in converting many Gentiles and there was great joy among the believers. Once they reached Jerusalem some Pharisees who now believed in You took up the contentious issue of circumcision and also insisted that the new converts follow the Mosaic law. They were reluctant to set aside the old and to boldly embrace the Way that You preached - a Way that superseded the Old Covenant giving way to the New which was ratified with Your Blood and sealed with the Holy Spirit.
The matter would not be decided once and for all by the Apostles and the presbyters and their decision would become dogma.

Psalm 122:1-5

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

We now have the New Covenant, we have the 12 Apostles appointed by You and they now represent the 12 Tribes - You have made all things new Beloved. You are now the Way to the Kingdom of God, You are the Truth that saves, and it is through Your Flesh and Blood that we received food for the journey that will take us from this mortal life to immortality in heaven.

At every celebration of the Holy Eucharist, we come rejoicing into the house of the Lord. We enter the New Jerusalem with thanksgiving and praise and here we worship the Living God in Spirit and in Truth. Truly God has made His dwelling place among us. Thank You, Beloved.

John 15:1-8

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

Here we have it - the Truth. As You have said so it is and we can either accept it and live or reject it and be condemned. At some time in every Christian's life, we have to make a choice, we have to take a stand whether we will remain in You or in the world. We cannot belong to both. We cannot serve two masters and once we have chosen to follow You we must pledge undying allegiance to You. We cannot be lukewarm about our commitment to You for You want no part of a divided heart.

Once we have given our life to You Beloved we then, in complete confidence, surrender to the will of the Father who will do all that is necessary to ensure that we reach our eternal destiny safely. He will prune away our weaknesses through the daily crosses we are called to bear. The way we handle the challenges of each day, the choices we make, will either enable us to become holy and perfect or take us away from You. We can either choose to be nourished by You and Your Holy Spirit and live or to be cut off from You, wither and die and be thrown into the fire that will never go out.

You urge us to choose to remain in You and to allow Your Word to remain active and alive in us in this way the Father who created us for Himself is glorified, and Your Spirit will ensure that we are fruitful and that we remain Your faithful disciples thus fulfilling the purpose for which our heavenly Father created us.

Keep us safe in You Beloved until the end. Amen.
