DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

Christ had to suffer and to rise from the dead,
and so enter into his glory. Lk 24:46, 26

Acts 14:19-28, Psalm 145:10-13, 21, John 14:27-31A

Acts 14:19-28

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

If we are not firmly grounded in the faith it is possible for us to be influenced by every wayward wind. If we are committed to being Your disciples we can expect persecution and suffering - for You have warned us that what they did to You they will do to us. So let us not be scandalized when the world shows such virulent hatred for Christianity and all things Christian.

Persecution enables the disciple to remain dependant on the Spirit. To go where He leads and to preach the Good News wherever we are sent just as Paul did.

Wherever he had been earlier and established a church, Paul goes back to see how the faithful are doing. He encourages them, exhorts them, and strengthens them. It is important to remain close to the hierarchy so we stay close to the Truth and do not allow heresies to creep in. It is also important for all who belong to the Church militant to recognize that suffering and hardship are necessary to prune and purify us. You suffered and we can expect no less from the enemies of the Truth. It is important to trust that the work begun in Your Name will be sustained by You and Your Spirit. We are called to obey those in authority in the Church and to be led by them for they are God's anointed.

In today's Reading, we see the early Church in action - how it began, how it grew, and how it functioned and this is exactly how it is to this day. Every church is attached to the Church and receives her life from her Head, her Bridegroom, her Spouse. Apart from You, we can do nothing, and we are certain to wither and die if we separate ourselves from You and Holy Mother Church.

Psalm 145:10-13, 21

Dear Loved, Beloved of my soul,

As long as I live I am called to praise and thank You for Your unconditional love for me and for all the blessings that You shower on me always. You have called us friends. You have drawn us into the inner circle. You have made Your home in us and we in You. We belong to God. We are privileged to call God, Father because we are grafted to You.

This is indeed Good News that we are called to share with everyone. You created all human beings to know You, to love You and to ultimately live eternally in the Kingdom of God. I have been given a mission grant me the grace and the Spirit of God so I may accomplish it for Your greater glory.

John 14:27-31A

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

Nothing that the world gives can ever compare to what we receive from You. Everything that the world offers is but a cheap imitation and passes away. All the pleasures of the world and of the flesh drag the human spirit into the filthy mire of sin and decadence. It deadens the soul and the more soiled we get the more difficult it becomes to even desire the good, the true, the noble, and the beautiful.

You came to bring peace it is not a peace that the world understands. Peace is not the absence of conflict but it is the fruit of genuine love for one another. True love seeks the wellbeing of the other. True love lays down its life for another, this is how peace is established among us. This is how we receive the peace that You came to give.

Thank You for assuring us that we need not be troubled or afraid. Thank You Beloved for Your comforting words that You will return to us again. To know true happiness we must take our cue from You and Your relationship with Your Father - we too must do just as You command us to. Thank You for grace and thank You for Your Holy Spirit that makes it possible.
