DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS
Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth;
you have revealed to little ones the mysteries of the Kingdom.
Mt 11:25
1 Peter 1:10-16, Psalm 98:1-4, Mark 10:28-31
1 Peter 1:10-16
Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,
St. Peter knew You intimately, he loved You more than the other Apostles hence, we must pay close attention to his words for he heard them from Your lips. May Your Holy Spirit enlighten my mind and open my heart to understand the wisdom and the beauty of the truths of Your Kingdom, the Kingdom of God.
Beloved, the Old Testament prophecies pointed to You and it was the Holy Spirit that revealed all that was to come to them. God began by choosing Abram, revealing Himself and His plan to him, and from his seed He made a nation for Himself.
We know from the prophets of old that from the line of David God would come a King whose reign will be eternal. From the writings of the prophet Isaiah and Jeremiah, as well as the psalmist we learn that this King will be unlike any other for He will be a Servant King who will suffer in order to heal and restore all mankind and the world. Just as sin entered the world through one man so would our justification come from One Man, the Son of the God, eternally begotten through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Angels look in awe at both You and Your Mother for they see to what lengths God was prepared to go in saving His children born of Adam.
We are invited to fix our gaze on eternal things, imperishable things and not on the world and all its passing fancies. You have made it possible for us to receive grace in abundance through the Sacraments that You instituted. You know that we are weak and without help, it would be impossible for us to ever draw near to God.
Obedience is key to pleasing God. If we are obedient to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, He will ensure that we grow in holiness.
Psalm 98:1-4
Sing to the LORD a new song,
for he has done wondrous deeds;
His right hand has won victory for him,
his holy arm.
The LORD has made his salvation known:
in the sight of the nations, he has revealed his justice.
He has remembered his kindness and his faithfulness
toward the house of Israel.
All the ends of the earth have seen
the salvation by our God.
Sing joyfully to the LORD, all you lands;
break into song; sing praise.
Mark 10:28-31
Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,
It is natural like Peter for us to wonder if our sacrifices are worth it. The Apostles had given up all to follow You and Peter was not afraid to come to You and speak of his concerns. They had left behind everything in order to respond to Your call to discipleship.
It is good he asked the question that bothered him in order that he could have the answer which answers our fears and worries as well.
You assure Peter and every other disciple who will come after the 12 that any sacrifice we make for the sake of the Gospel and for the Kingdom will be rewarded in a way that we cannot even begin to comprehend. No one can outdo God in generosity and when He gives, He gives all. However, let us not forget that along with Your assurances comes a warning as well:
"Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the Gospel who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age: houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come. But many that are first will be last, and the last will be first."
Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth;
you have revealed to little ones the mysteries of the Kingdom.
